Here we go with another NEW YEAR :2p

Let's hope that it's better than last!

I hope you're all healthy.

*Until we return to normalcy and the shooting ranges are open for business, it's okay to shoot a pellet gun at 10 yards at the target of your choice (trigger time is trigger time). If you can shoot rimfire, please do. Some of us can't. I'm sure we'll do the best we can under the circumstances.*

Make a note of these, they will be the guide for all future Fun Shoots'
SmallCal.

RFC Fun Shoot; Classes and Rules
This Fun Shoot is for any RF cartridge rifle, to include the following, .22 RF, .22 Mag. , .17 RF.

All targets in each class are shot at 25 yards.

The (old) rules for Class 1 expired 4-30-09 and have been deleted. (This update to C-1 made 7-16 09)

Note that we will use three different classes of rifles for this shoot and from now on and these class rules will apply for all future Fun Shoots. Make a note of them.

(NEW Rules for Class 1 Fun Shoot as of 7-16-`09 SPECIAL ADDENDUM to C1 irons and scoped shoot. PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

This Class 1 Fun Shoot is reserved for beginners and novice of any age.

Targets will be generous and fairly easy to learn on.

Class 1. Box Stock HUNTING/PLINKING rifles only, NO target rifles allowed. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of a scope with variable power settings and shortening of the butt stock for fit to smaller shooters. Scope power will be assigned at the time of the shoot. Usually not more than 9X. Iron sighted rifles will use original sights or replacements like the original. Any rest is allowed except Machine Rest.
These modifications to this Class 1 shoot are implemented to allow older beginners and novice shooters to join in the Fun Shoot without the heavy competition of shooting against target type rifles and highly skilled shooters. Those rifles and shooters will go to Class 2 from now on. If you have questions, PM me direct. SmallCal

PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

SmallCal

(Unchanged)
Class 2; Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifles. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of adjustable scopes with the power setting assigned at each shoot, adjustable receiver sights, globe front sights, trigger modifications/replacement to lighten weight of pull but NO low end limit but must be safe. Barrel replacement of any design that doesn`t make your rifle exceed the weight limit of 10.5 lb. total weight. Stock modifications or replacement stocks that resemble thumbhole or sporting stocks which have a convex forend profile and horizontal width no greater than 2 inches wide are allowed.
If your Modified Sporting Rifle exceeds any one or more of the above limits, it will be in the higher Class 3 group.

(Unchanged)
Class 3; All of those rifles that were/are designed for the strict purpose of Bench Rest Shooting with unlimited modifications and all of those rifles that exceed any limits in the Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifle class.
This class can be divided into two sub classes of those bench rifles with scopes (unlimited power) and those with iron sights (unlimited type). This sight division will allow all of the super race guns to be included here.

If you are unsure of the class you should be in, go to the next higher class and state that on your score/target postings.
I do know that there will be some rifles that are so close to fitting into more than one category that its hard to tell where they should go. If in question, go up a class.

Post score as shown here.

Thanks.

Well done Jack... :bthumb:

The early Marlins were the tops in my book for accuracy.

So, a friend of mine loaned me a rifle a while ago, and not shooting it in a couple of the classes has been killing me.
It's a 1944 Lee Enfield No. 7 trainer, in 22LR.
Built in Canada at the Long Branch Armoury near Toronto during the war years, many recruits and cadets have learned to shoot with these over the years.
The pic I've attached isn't the rifle I have care and keeping of at the moment, but other than the rear sight it's pretty much identical.
The one I'm using has a Parker Hale 5C rear peep sight with an adjustable aperture.
I have no idea whether this sight came on the rifle or not, so which class it fits in isn't clear to me, though to be safe, it's probably a C2.
That didn't stop me from shooting a C1 iron target with it though.. lol

Lookin' good Joe and Sean... :bthumb: :bthumb:

And you did it with some classic rifles!

My first rimfire was a Marlin 39, my first centerfire was a .303 Enfield.

I have a soft spot in my heart for both...

Thanks, it's a fun rifle to shoot, both are actually.
The LE just feels "right", if that makes any sense. Very solid and quite smooth.
It's single load, the mag spring and follower aren't in place.
Extraction is pretty slick, and once the case is clear of the chamber it just drops into the magazine.
Nice for cleaning up the firing point when I'm done for the day.

Beautiful day in north Georgia today,,
60 with about a 5 mph tail wind,,I shot another round of 50/100 , then broke the Marlin out for a class ll target, then some pellet testing and another round of class ll with the TX200 :D

PJ/ John
Scoped ll.
120/120
Marlin 60
Weaver Kaspa tactical, 3-12x44
Eley ,Match.
I’ve done a ton of polishing on the trigger group, and this gun has a really cool and smooth two stage 4 lb trigger now,, so much fun to shoot.

I'm not sure exactly what stock this one is considered, even though I call it a Marlin 60 , that's not really correct,, mines a Formost 6660,,,,,
It was made for JC Pennies back in the 70's,, mines is similar to #3 without the forstock engraving,,Marlin made the 60 for about a dozen different companies over the years...

Good shooting to you John :bthumb: :bthumb:

Another Marlin and the airgun! There, that wasn't so hard, was it??

Quite a bit of shooting going on this month. Good to see.

Stan, Robert, Jack, Joe, Sean, and John to catch up with.... quite a bit of good shooting and a great variety of rifles too!

Nice to see those Marlins come out Jack and John. And even better to see that they shoot with the newer stuff of similar model. Who needs a newer one when the old ones do it just as well?

Sean - that Henry is really a shooter. As for the Enfield, you won't hear any grief from me on target selections. I shot my Remington513 at C1 targets as well... old eyes weren't ready for C2 yet! Except for that sheep you already have the C2 down, and we all know the odd shaped targets get tricky!

Cold & clear this morning, 27 degrees. A good day to stay inside.

RFC name: COW 54 First name: Stan
Score: 120/120 Class: C-3
Rifle: **AIRGUN** Daisy/Avanti 853 (Yipes Stripes), Ammo: H&N Sport (.177)
Iron Sights: Daisy
Weather: 27 deg, bright and clear, but I'm glad to be inside shooting at 10 yards
Excuses: Barely squeaked by on the third eyeball. This is a lot harder than it looks, shooting an unscoped rifle.
