Christmas season is upon us :)

I hope you're all healthy.

*Until we return to normalcy and the shooting ranges are open for business, it's okay to shoot a pellet gun at 10 yards at the target of your choice (trigger time is trigger time). If you can shoot rimfire, please do. Some of us can't. I'm sure we'll do the best we can under the circumstances.*

Make a note of these, they will be the guide for all future Fun Shoots'
SmallCal.

RFC Fun Shoot; Classes and Rules
This Fun Shoot is for any RF cartridge rifle, to include the following, .22 RF, .22 Mag. , .17 RF.

All targets in each class are shot at 25 yards.

The (old) rules for Class 1 expired 4-30-09 and have been deleted. (This update to C-1 made 7-16 09)

Note that we will use three different classes of rifles for this shoot and from now on and these class rules will apply for all future Fun Shoots. Make a note of them.

(NEW Rules for Class 1 Fun Shoot as of 7-16-`09 SPECIAL ADDENDUM to C1 irons and scoped shoot. PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

This Class 1 Fun Shoot is reserved for beginners and novice of any age.

Targets will be generous and fairly easy to learn on.

Class 1. Box Stock HUNTING/PLINKING rifles only, NO target rifles allowed. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of a scope with variable power settings and shortening of the butt stock for fit to smaller shooters. Scope power will be assigned at the time of the shoot. Usually not more than 9X. Iron sighted rifles will use original sights or replacements like the original. Any rest is allowed except Machine Rest.
These modifications to this Class 1 shoot are implemented to allow older beginners and novice shooters to join in the Fun Shoot without the heavy competition of shooting against target type rifles and highly skilled shooters. Those rifles and shooters will go to Class 2 from now on. If you have questions, PM me direct. SmallCal

PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

SmallCal

(Unchanged)
Class 2; Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifles. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of adjustable scopes with the power setting assigned at each shoot, adjustable receiver sights, globe front sights, trigger modifications/replacement to lighten weight of pull but NO low end limit but must be safe. Barrel replacement of any design that doesn`t make your rifle exceed the weight limit of 10.5 lb. total weight. Stock modifications or replacement stocks that resemble thumbhole or sporting stocks which have a convex forend profile and horizontal width no greater than 2 inches wide are allowed.
If your Modified Sporting Rifle exceeds any one or more of the above limits, it will be in the higher Class 3 group.

(Unchanged)
Class 3; All of those rifles that were/are designed for the strict purpose of Bench Rest Shooting with unlimited modifications and all of those rifles that exceed any limits in the Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifle class.
This class can be divided into two sub classes of those bench rifles with scopes (unlimited power) and those with iron sights (unlimited type). This sight division will allow all of the super race guns to be included here.

If you are unsure of the class you should be in, go to the next higher class and state that on your score/target postings.
I do know that there will be some rifles that are so close to fitting into more than one category that its hard to tell where they should go. If in question, go up a class.

Post score as shown here.

Thanks.

Lots of very good to even great shooting this month. Nick, Jack, John with his perfect USBR green monster. Wow! Also Sean, Stan and Oystein, Bob and Stan again. You guys just seem to keep raising the bar higher. I keep watching the ammo people shoot on this forum and other forums on Rimfire Central to get ideas for my competition shooting with my Rem 40X and a Benchmark barrel. Stan I just received 2 bricks of Eley Team that needs testing yet and I noticed you shot some Federal Ultra Match too. 2 years ago I purchased a couple bricks of that old Federal from a friend and won several matches in Minnesota this year with respectable scores in ARA competition. If you got the right batch of that old stuff it was excellent and it apparently was R50 made for Federal by RWS. I wish I had more of that old lot. At my age I do not buy case lots as the joke goes that I should not by any green bananas anymore. Thanks to this forum I saw the green USBR targets and now have a supply of those. Any shooting I do here in Minnesota this winter will have my ammo near a heating hand warmer so thanks for that information also. What would I do without this forum?

Thanks guys :)

Just for the record, that was the last box of UM (the rebranded R-50) that I have on hand.

I tend to shoot a lot of orphan ammo.

The EELY Team, I've shot 1-1/2 boxes in one rifle. It liked it a lot... That's a keeper, the Team is.

Goin' to the range (tomorrow) to shoot ducks :bthumb:

Great shooting Bob and Stan. I too value the knowledge and tips I pick up on RFC. Of late, keeping the ammo warm is the best thing since warmer temps.

Spent some time Wednesday and Thursday getting some December targets punched. Posted some in the 100 yd match that Jack is in charge of and then got to two of the December Fun targets irons class two and three.

RFC Alias, leej, First Name Lee
Score, 100/100 Class II Irons
Sights: Anschutz 8634
Rifle Make, Anschutz 1903 MSR, Center X
Weather Conditions, 10C/50F, S 7-16 mph mostly sunny
Excuses, tough target to see but I think I did OK?

That's all for now folks unless I can a few more in today.

RFC Alias: Pastprime, First name: Hank
Score w/ bonus:100/120, Class II Scoped
Scope: Weaver 40/44 @ 9x
Rifle make: CZ 455 Training Rifle, Ammo: Eley Bulk from CMP
Weather conditions: 61 F., Cloudy, 2-6 mph wind
Excuses: None you'd believe.

Decided to put a scope on the rifle I usually shoot with the factory iron sights. I see that the sights are not my problem shooting the A23/5 targets......

Nice break from the colder weather today.

I went to the VA hospital up in Erie, just before Thanksgiving.
I just now got home, what fun!
Now if the weather co-operates, I can get in some range time.....
What were you in for?

Range time is the best therapy.. :t

Thanks Stan and LeeJ

I also believe that better ammunition and equipment would produce higher scores, but seeing what I can do with less than the best is part of the fun factor for me. Both of the rifles I use are stock with the exception of trigger modifications. I leave the scope at 9X because that's all I need. I'll let those with young eyes and steady nerves go for the gold. I'm very content with whatever score I shoot.

You guys are getting some good targets shot.
I went to the range on Saturday morning to test some ammo through the CZ. I packed a couple of ducky targets in the car, planning to shoot them if I had time.
I ran out of time and weather, so it didn't happen.
Between scheduling conflicts and some restrictions on range use because of Covid, it's going to be tricky finding time to shoot this month's matches.
One decent day should get it done, plus the 100 yd iron sight match that I'm involved in now, thanks to Jack!
