Here we go for July.

INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!

My range is open!

I hope you're all healthy.

*Until we return to normalcy and the shooting ranges are open for business, it's okay to shoot a pellet gun at 10 yards at the target of your choice (trigger time is trigger time). If you can shoot rimfire, please do. Some of us can't. I'm sure we'll do the best we can under the circumstances.*

Make a note of these, they will be the guide for all future Fun Shoots'
SmallCal.

RFC Fun Shoot; Classes and Rules
This Fun Shoot is for any RF cartridge rifle, to include the following, .22 RF, .22 Mag. , .17 RF.

All targets in each class are shot at 25 yards.

The (old) rules for Class 1 expired 4-30-09 and have been deleted. (This update to C-1 made 7-16 09)

Note that we will use three different classes of rifles for this shoot and from now on and these class rules will apply for all future Fun Shoots. Make a note of them.

(NEW Rules for Class 1 Fun Shoot as of 7-16-`09 SPECIAL ADDENDUM to C1 irons and scoped shoot. PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

This Class 1 Fun Shoot is reserved for beginners and novice of any age.

Targets will be generous and fairly easy to learn on.

Class 1. Box Stock HUNTING/PLINKING rifles only, NO target rifles allowed. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of a scope with variable power settings and shortening of the butt stock for fit to smaller shooters. Scope power will be assigned at the time of the shoot. Usually not more than 9X. Iron sighted rifles will use original sights or replacements like the original. Any rest is allowed except Machine Rest.
These modifications to this Class 1 shoot are implemented to allow older beginners and novice shooters to join in the Fun Shoot without the heavy competition of shooting against target type rifles and highly skilled shooters. Those rifles and shooters will go to Class 2 from now on. If you have questions, PM me direct. SmallCal

PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

SmallCal

(Unchanged)
Class 2; Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifles. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of adjustable scopes with the power setting assigned at each shoot, adjustable receiver sights, globe front sights, trigger modifications/replacement to lighten weight of pull but NO low end limit but must be safe. Barrel replacement of any design that doesn`t make your rifle exceed the weight limit of 10.5 lb. total weight. Stock modifications or replacement stocks that resemble thumbhole or sporting stocks which have a convex forend profile and horizontal width no greater than 2 inches wide are allowed.
If your Modified Sporting Rifle exceeds any one or more of the above limits, it will be in the higher Class 3 group.

(Unchanged)
Class 3; All of those rifles that were/are designed for the strict purpose of Bench Rest Shooting with unlimited modifications and all of those rifles that exceed any limits in the Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifle class.
This class can be divided into two sub classes of those bench rifles with scopes (unlimited power) and those with iron sights (unlimited type). This sight division will allow all of the super race guns to be included here.

If you are unsure of the class you should be in, go to the next higher class and state that on your score/target postings.
I do know that there will be some rifles that are so close to fitting into more than one category that its hard to tell where they should go. If in question, go up a class.

Post score as shown here.

Good shooting everyone :bthumb:
I still can't believe what you iron sight shooters are capable of, it is impressive.

Spent the weekend shooting a total of 19 targets using sk std+ and sk rm.
Had lots of 85 to 95 scores which happen to match the temps:D.

I think I may have hit the goal
#2 small bull I can't tell even with scoring plug.

Name: nfcracin-- Lonny
Class 3 50 yards
DJ build Anschutz 64
40 power Muller Scope
SK Rifle Match
Caldwell BR with Protector front & rear
calm wind 90 deg
Excuses not sure on #2 small bull
Score 120 or 125
my best yet

John and Lonny, very nicely done! :t :t

John - older guns are "da bomb"..! My favorite guns are from the late 1950s.
I'll shoot one this week...

Lonny - 19 targets? Something in the Class 3 has your attention, eh?
If you can ace this you can ace anything!

That Class III scoped is brutal on my old eyes. I shot the postal target incorrectly by putting two shots in each bull. I am going to have to practice more of these.

"I admire the shooting I have seen here, so far." "I have floaters bigger than some of these bulls even at my 7x zoom max."

Class II Irons - July 1st attempt

My first target for July. I had the little CIL-190 (Anschutz) out to the range this evening with some good results.

RFC Alias,_Chucker25______, First name__Randy
Score w/ bonus___90/90_____,Class_2_______,
Scope______________, Iron sights,_Aperture sights_______
Rifle make,_CIL-190_______, Ammo,_SK Long Range Match
Weather conditions__cool & calm
Excuses - no excuses, just surprised :)

Since things were working pretty good this evening I shot a couple 100yard targets, best one included here. Pulled shot #6, the rest came in at about 1moa, best I've done with irons at 100 yards (target black is 8").

Behind in my responses to July's targets

Shooters, my apologies as I've been a bit remiss in responding to all the great targets posted thus far this month. Seems time has been slipping by here this past couple weeks. Hopefully I will be able to be a bit more on the ball going forward. Some amazing shooting thus far - the bars are being set very high - I gotta up my game.

Super class II irons Randy. Very ingenious spotting scope mount.

Thanks everyone.:bthumb:

Here is a pic of the rifle from last month and a pic of the range out the window.

Stan with this shooting room on my deck it is too tempting to shoot a couple of targets every hour or so to try for a better score and it was a 3 day weekend for me.:D

Looks like you met your goal Lonny. And nice looking rifle.:bthumb:
And some nice Irons targets Randy:bthumb: I used to shoot some 100 targets when my eyes didnt bother me. The 10 ring was 2 inches and the X ring was 1 inch so YOU would have had a lot of X's if you had her dialed in.
Nice looking Marlins John. :bthumb:And nice shooting.I have an old Model 60 Squirrel stock but dont shoot it much as it is way back in the safe.

Greyknife- Ralph
Class 2 Scope 25 yds
Savage Mark II BTV
Scope at 12X
Fiocchi Exacta Winter and Rem Thunderbolt (cheapest bulk ammo)
85 degrees light wind 100/100 on both

Hope both targets show up. I am still having trouble posting targets! Some of you are really much better than I am with open iron sights. I shot 4 targets with my Henry Golden Boy(open sights) and am too ashamed to even show them. My 82 years old eyes do not help much either. Yes, I know that is an excuse! Love to shoot though.

Just printed out the Class 3 scoped target.

If my print out is scaled correctly, the 5 bulls on the bottom row are .260 inches in diameter.
So you can you score a 10 on those, but really.
I'll shoot it, but I don't want to waste ammo if my print out is off in scale.

However if that is correct, what a wicked target, and it's normally shot a 50yds. :) Yikes!!!

I no longer see the BBcode when using imgur like I did a few years ago. I wish I knew how you guys post full pictures with your posts without using imgur. Is there a way to move photos from your computer files directly to the forum without using someone like imgur? ? I do appreciate your comments and help on this forum.

Very good targets Ralph. Glad to see you got some shooting in. :t

LMAO 😂 Smooth. Was hoping to see you take a run at this one. Lonny is shooting it at 50 because he doesn’t have a target stand at 25.

Great pic Stan. Thank you.

Got a bunch of targets set again and will give it another try in a couple of days.
