Heritage Rough Rider Forum

It looks like the forum dedicated to the Heritage Rough Rider revolvers, gunslingerforum.com has closed up shop. I don't know if it is temporary or what. Never really seemed to get a lot of traffic.

Yes, there are some Heritage posts in this section and in the Taurus/Rossi section as well(Taurus owns Heritage Arms).

The problem is not with the gunslingers forum, it's with freeforums which hosts gunslinger. The Gunslingers owner has no control over the freeforums host. Occasionally the host hiccups and sites hosted there become unavailable until it gets resuscitated by the operator(s).

It used to be quite active, and we still see frequent bursts of activity.

I've tried to register and the mystery box question stays blank. Refreshing with a different puzzle doesn't help.

"Free" anything on the internet is never free. Hosting an internet forum is a PITA. Balancing ease of access while protecting it from hackers is a tough job.

As far as Heritage goes, the Gunslinger forum traffic is not that great because aside from complaining about problems and heaping praise on your Rough Rider, there's not much to talk about. Not a great firearm for modifying or precision target shooter, it's mainly a plinker for Western firearms enthusiasts.

I like my Rough Rider, it's good for what it is; an inexpensive single action revolver.

i know a young man that got started in cowboy action with a pair of those until he was allowed to go to the centerfire , they worked quite well for that purpose , he deleloped his style quite nicely

I'd love to see a regular Heritage Forum here. There are a lot of happy Heritage owners and I'm sure it would get a lot of input.

I have a Heritage Rough Rider .22 with 6.5" barrel.

It came with Ivory grips but I wanted checkered wood.

Just got this case hardened 6.5" & I'm quite pleased! It's my first single action revolver & for $150 it's the right price point. Got it to shoot for fun & cycle snake shot loads.

those are great looking revolvers the latter are similar to ,my shooting buddies SASS pair , something i like about those green grip scales

My magnum cylinder total included length is 1.636", giving a loose .003" and tight .004"cylinder-forcing cone gap. Perfect!

The .22LR cylinder measures 1.620, giving (by feeler gauge) .014"+ gap. Pretty large, if you ask me. When fired, I occasionally feel stinging on my left cheek. It's not a timing problem, it's gasses able to escape, some bouncing rearwards and carrying particles with it.

The ratchet on the magnum cylinder has sharp edges. The LR ratchet has flat spots as though all six points were filed down. Unfortunately, the missing metal is what is causing the cylinder gap.

A Heritage rep told me the .015" gap is within tolerances when I called and asked.

I'm disappointed with that gap which I now know from that phone call that Heritage won't adjust it so there is no point in sending the gun in for work. I'm hoping they will supply me with a .22LR cylinder having the same length as the magnum.

I can almost guarantee that they won't send the new cylinder to any but a licensed gunsmith who has the capability to "fit" the cylinder to the gun. I tried.

What is weird is that they would send a new mag cylinder to me but not the LR cylinder
