Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum I just registered tonight. I own a 4.75" r.r. with cocobolo grips that I purchased at gander mtn last spring for $99. $106 after tax. Good handling, accurate and good looking. I'm gonna refinish the grips or get some darkend brown checkered ones. Im goung to work the trigger down a little too. Anyone have any tips or can anyone point me to any how to's? By the way rfc is a great site! Learned a lot about my springfield 187 and sav. mark ii here.

Some people are gun snobs They simply cannot understand that not every one can afford to spend $300 on a .22 revolver they're just going to shot for fun.

Frankly, I think they're the crazy ones.

If I'm happy with my Heritage Rough Rider .22 why should that bother you?
If I'm happy with my Taurus 82 .38 special why should that bother you?

If you don't want to own a budget firearm, than don't buy one. Stick with your $300 Ruger and your $600 S&W and your $700 Mossberg. Other people are happy with their $99-$150 Heritage and their $250-$300 Taurus and their $188-$200 Maverick 88.

Stuart, well put. I have expensive guns and some less expensive. I enjoy them all. This 'C' guy that keeps dancing on this site reminds me of some that I've known in real life. "look at me, I'm the expert". We all know that an ex-pert is just someone that used to be a 'pert' but isn't any longer. Enjoy your RR's as I do. Just a good functioning fun to shoot 'toy'. I spend my money on ammo.

This week I traded for a Ruger Single Nine . Nice pistol , but my Rough Rider out shot it today . And the Ruger has fiber optics .
So when I got home I ordered myself another Heritage RR with a birdshead grip and both cylinders so I can compare magnum against magnum .

I have handguns of various calibers ranging from Colts and S&W's on down to Rugers, Taurus and two Heritage Rough Riders.
Why 2? Well, the first one I bought a decade ago impressed me enough to buy another a couple of years ago.

For the record, (a) I'm not a gun snob, (b) I do not know everything, and (c) I'm not ashamed to admit either one.

I’m looking at adding one to the stable before too long. To me, the snobs will be snobs. No matter what you shoot, if you actually do shoot a moderate amount the gun is the cheap part. I’ve got a K22 but would prefer to keep the round count down so if a RR can fill the void while giving me a little more space for ammo I am on board.

The steel framed ones really have my interest.

While not a rimfire, the Heritage Big Bores are quality pieces.
My 45 Colt was made in Italy by Pietta.
If you like single action revolvers, give them a look.
They have 357 magnums as well.

I chewed the brass at Academy out for advertising the great deals on the

Heritage pistols at black Friday and not having any in stock, then for Father's

day they had a Dad's edition, and my store didn't have any of them either. I

got a call from the gun manager at my local store about three days after

sending my thoughts about their advertising and not stocking. He asked what

he could do to make it right.

So, I took in an ad from Sportsman's Guide that had the "Johnny Boy "

Heritage in .22 caliber only for 121.59 through the buyer's club. They matched

that, gave me back 5 percent and sold me the one with the magnum cylinder

for that price. 126.48 out the door..and I love it ! Accurate as can I shoot

with open sights. Naysayers can be naysayers, but remember, the 10/22

Ruger is alloy receiver and it holds a lot more barrel than a six inch revolver.

Who would have thought there would be "plastic" radiators in a Mercedes

Benz? LOL !

Nice looking setup there. Is it with both cylinders? The mag is a real hoot to shoot, and my beautiful GF likes it better than the LR version. First time shooting TH 22WMR, she was able to keep 11 out of 12 in a 3" circle.
My next would be a birds head.

Hey Shirtz - Thanks and yes it did come with the Mag cylinder. Sadly I had to part with a few Guns to get ahead of my bills (I'm Retired) so that one went - When I took it to my local gun shop they sold it in 30 min after I left. I still have my Johnny boy and Bearcat - I sold off my Semi's - They just became ammo eaters. I don't carry I just plink - And I like the slow workings of a SAA. I hit the range once or twice a month and I'm good.

I've had cap guns that were better finished. Of course I'm 72, back then cap guns were better made than today's.

You must have had some good cap guns. None of my cap guns were finished as well as my three Heritage Rough Riders....Yes, three.....I have Ruger single sixes, and a single ten, and the Heritages outshoots them all. I like them. For what they cost when you can get them at a deal it is a no brainer.

It's like to some people, if their paramour isn't covered in tats, she's not worth it. I buy and keep guns that I have because I enjoy shooting them. Much prefer wood over plastic, just cause I'm old school. Blued and wood just makes me feel better than plastic and SS. My RR's fill the bill perfectly.

I've had mine for quite a while, over six years for sure. I've had to replace the cylinder arm spring twice; no other problems. The bluing, if that's what it is, has worn off due to the holster, but I think it looks cool.

As if needing needing further evidence of my proletarianism, I paired it with a Henry H001.

Fortunately, I'm not smart enough to realize that I shouldn't be having fun shooting these in my back yard, as I should have gotten a Ruger and a JM stamped model 39.

Edit to add. I cannot verify the date, but thinking this gun at least 8 years old with Thousands of rounds through it.
