Not too many people can claim that they've stabbed a bear to death and not be BSing you.

He might not have been sure about hitting the bear and missing the dog if they were going at it.

Those fellas were lucky they weren't both killed. The mauled fella was lucky he had his pal along. The fella with the knife, I wouldn't want to have to take him on with or without his knife.

In Hawaii there is a legendary North Shore lifeguard Eddie Aikou - who would always head out into the surf (20 ft+ waves) to rescue another surfer in trouble. One day some of his buddies swamped a canoe in heavy seas and Eddie hopped on his long board to paddle out to help them - and he didn't come back. There is a common expression there now - Eddie would go. I think we now have a similar expression on this board -

Shane would go in!

I just got an email about a polar bear attack in the Yukon. Had some pretty graphic pictures. I don't know how to post them, but I can forward the email if anybody is interested.

Reminds me a lot of a set-to I had years ago with my ex-wife, except I didn't have no backup and her hair was longer. Whole thing could have been avoided. All I said was, "What do you mean, you can't clean the squirrels while you're doin the laundry, you got two hands, don't you?

"Shane Majors, a hunter from Roscommon, jumped on the bear and stabbed it with a knife until the bear fled."

Rather large cojones, pure and simple. Or maybe tequila.

I was born and raised in Roscommon. I left in 1979. I saw a few bears in Michigan and Ontario, but was never tempted to take one on with a knife!!!
