Just when I didn't think shooting my 41 could get any better Ray at Bully Barrels builds me a threaded barrel. More accurate than I am and quite when I need it to be

Thanks Bigdog,it is a real pleasure to shoot.
Blue, you can see them at www.bullybarrel.ray-vin.com All of the threaded barrels from this run are spoken for, but Ray will put you on a list and contact you. These are sweet barrels and Ray and Ruby are a treat to deal with. First class for certain. Regards

Wow again! I can't believe that I haven't seen those before. Are they somewhat new? I love the 8" but I love the threaded too.... Anyway, congrats on a great looking gun!

What are the results of using the different twist rates (1:8 vs 1:16)?

#66

I just got #66 out of the current batch on Thursday just in time for league practice. I shoot Bullseye with a red dot, and the Bully is SUBSTANTIALY more accurate than either of the factory barrels I have. Well worth the money.

Here you go Blue. I believe that I've seen some great pics from you as well. I've only shot at 15 yards and it is a dime sized group, so I have to say I like the twist. Maybe welder has more info as he is a comp shooter.
Doc, glad to help! you will be a believer.
welder, I love your #66, I'm a June Six Birthday. My Barrel is #52, take a look at that target.

twist rate

If you look at the barrel history section on the Bully site, Ray has documented all of his test groups. If you look you'll notice that the 1:16's tend to make smaller groups. I think this has to do with a particular bullet weight needing a certain twist to stabilize. I shoot 40 gr. standard velocity target stuff. I'd be interested in the results of shooting some of the 60 gr. Aguila SSS out of a 1:8 to see what it would do. Bully barrels tend to be lighter than stock, which for me is good, to conteract the Ultradot and custom grips I use.

Well rumor has it that a certain Ruger 10-22 barrel maker produced barrels in a 1X9 twist especially for the Aguila SniperSubsonic 60 grain to be used in some serious work. I can see where the 60gr needs to be stabilized to prevent suppressor baffle strike which would not be good. Maybe I'll get brave and try some. For my use the groups are better with CCI SV in the BULLY than with my factory 5.5 & 7" However perhaps I'm just trying harder Welder, when you have time consider posting a pic so we can see your grips.
Thanks for the good words Blue, I'll look forward to seeing what you put together. I know that you will

I have barrel number 30 from Ray. He bead blasted mine free of charge too.
I really enjoy the 41 as a suppressor host, the only thing I don't like about it is mine came with a pretty cheesy delrin thread protector.

I wonder if he could machine a muzzle brake that matches the countour of the barrell and would index correctly upon re-installing? It would probably need a set screw w/a corresponding divot to keep it from coming loose.

I've posted mine here before, glad to see some more around. Ray does good work.
