.22 Mag revolver

Someone on the S&W Collectors gunsmithing forum posted about how they were installing a .22 Mag cylinder (stainless 648) in their old K 22 Masterpiece and the thought struck that mod would be nice in my 4" barrel pre 18. I bought all the parts and learned some new gunsmithing (filing extractor ratchets was pretty scary at first). What a hoot to shoot. Literally it is a blast. My only .22WMR prior to this is my NAA Wasp which lives in my pocket most of the time. This K frame Pre-18 .22WMR is just a joy.

That is one handsome handgun. You are lucky to own it.

Looks like a fantastic mag shooter.

I'm a guessing the firing pin location and size is working fine on the larger diameter .22 magnum rims?

Hope you have some good headphones. .22mag is kinda loud in a handgun.

I can't honestly say I'd do that to my M18. I did buy a M48 with a 6 inch barrel and if spring ever comes I'm looking forward to shooting it and a few others.

I can honestly say I would not do that but to each his own. Enjoy your new toy.

Totally agree. Don’t hurt that M18. Get a M48. One can’t have too many S&W revolvers.

Nice looking pistol. I’d love to find a good S&W .22.
