It would be fun just unwrapping them to see what you have as there are so many variations when it comes to the parts.

I bought one from a wooden crate like that in El Monte, CA back in 70’s. A military surplus dealer had several crates of rifles not all of which were MAS 45’s but several were. I knew nothing about them back then so I’m sorry I didn’t grab several. Wont tell you the price. Very thick hard to remove dark brown cosmoline type of preservative on everything.

I would have bought them if there had been 4 or more cleaning rods,,
it is useless with only one cleaning rod,,,,,,,
That is some expensive cosmoline,, I actually have a gallon of cosmoline remover,,
got it at a surplus store,

I just think of what quality firearm I can buy for $800, and the excitement for these rifles goes away real fast.

I think the real value in this crate of fun is as a centerpiece in one’s enormous vault room. Maybe as a coffee table upon which to prop your hand-crafted-loafer-clad tootsies while you sip 50-year old cognac and puff contentedly on your smuggled Cuban Cohiba whilst discussing your latest MG-42 (signed by Hitler!) acquisition.
And no, I have no such vault...

My first one (foolishly sold) came from such a crate at a gun show in Hickory NC probably around the mid 80's or so. Rifle, sling, five magazines....$125 bucks. Picked up another about 5 or so years ago at a little shop in Reidsville NC, around $300 if I remember correctly. Still have it (one magazine but I still had four of the original 5).

Love that they are still showing up.
However, at that price it will be a bit of a wait to recoup on the investment. $800.00 per is not as of yet the standard going rate. They still show up a couple hundred less (already cleaned up to boot!).
But, it does probably indicate the trending cost. Heading up.
The couple of new youtube videos (USOG https://youtu.be/DflhTyogy6A , and Bloke On The Range https://youtu.be/yczMCaaumUI) probably have increased awareness and appreciation greatly!

Thank God it is not a crate of Springfield 1922M1's or my wife would really be pissed!

Nice transitional model, Gerald! My understanding is that these were assembled in St. Etienne using leftover parts from the Mauser factory, hence the double stamp on the receiver.

We received one of those crates of 10 at our gun store back in the day. I was foolish to not buy one. My brother the gunsmith did. Pretty sure he still has it

That would have been Federal Ordnance of South El Monte. Was there several times in the 1980's. Lots of stuff.............
