I've put 7k rounds through my Buckmark. I swab the barrel with Hoppe's and brush the bolt face, the back of the barrel and the feed ramp with a toothbrush and WD40. I do keep the sliding parts well oiled. I take everything apart and do a thorough cleaning if I get bored or if I'm not planning to shoot it for a while. It does get crud in the innards but it doesn't seem to affect function.

WD40 has never my choice of lubricants, but if it works for you, keep on keeping on.

I rarely do a slide off cleaning. I spray down with gunscrubber, wipe down, then apply some oil.

Your second question about browning and phone requests for parts. I have bought all of my parts direct. They are much less expensive, and often times, they have sent them for free.

Browning customer service has been outstanding when I order parts.

I clean and lube all of my 10/22 rifles with either WD40 Specialist Dry Lube or Hornady One Shot (CLP not the One Shot case lube). Both have very volatile solvents that dissolve .22 schmoo very well and evaporate very quickly. After I get everything clean, I just give the parts, bolt, receiver, etc... a quick spray and let it dry before re-assembly. The dry film lube doesn't collect the schmoo and turn it into lapping compound the way too much oil or grease does.

For the Buckmarks, I clean and lube them with the WD40 or One Shot, but I do put 4 drops of light gun oil, either EZZOX or Lucas red on the slide, one drop each side at the front corners between the slide and frame and one drop each side right at the junction the the rear frame post and bottom of the slide.

I clean the barrel face, breach face, chamber, and run a bore snake down the barrel about 2 or 3 times a month (generally before each match) which averages out to about every 500-600 rounds between cleanings.

About every other month I'll pull the slide and barrel off and give everything a little more thorough cleaning which averages about every 2,000-2,500 rounds. Then every 6 months I'll detail strip the gun to the bare frame and clean everything, inspect and measure the springs and replace anything that needs it.
