I picked up this 1422 at auction last month and it arrived yesterday. I've mounted a Leupold M8 6X because it fit the rings that came with it and I had a spare scope laying around. I was unprepared for the size of the rifle, it's almost a full size rifle and it has quite a heavy barrel but all in balance. The sling swivels (or studs?) have been removed, does anybody know a source for them? I actually had a rear sight on hand and have already installed it. Sometimes you get lucky.

Also can anybody tell me anything about this particular model?? I've done an internet search but not much comes up.

Thanks!

Had one. A great model. (Current iteration is the 1710 DKL)

Sling: It uses a rear stud (wood screw variety) and a threaded front stud which has a nut to secure it in the barrel channel.
Both should be the same as current production.

If memory serves, the proper rear sight is a Lyman 16C.

Back when mine was new in 1984, the first scope to go on it, was a Leupold compact 6x ao.

....ahh, Are you feeling ok?? It's not a Trombone. ;-)

Thanks Camster, I'll follow up and try and find the correct sling swivels.

Yes, I am OK, I do have other rifles...not just Trombones!

Very good looking rifle. You should find it to be an excellent shooter, as well. I have one of those and it is one of the last rifles I'd sell. Congrats!

I also just put my hands on a like new 1422 about 1 month ago.It belonged to a collector and have been a safe queen for most of its life. Beautiful rifle. I have yet to shoot mine. Yours look to be in very nice shape too. Congrats.

They are a full size rifle and one might consider them heavy, but the trigger, action (so smooth) and accuracy(borderlines boredom) makes this one of the best rifles ever manufactured IMO. Iíve never been a fan of the mag release or the anschutz 10 round mags but these rifles are awesome. Enjoy your new find
