I have my grandfathers 1955 550-1 with og tip off scope. Recently bought a remington instruction for operation and care manual with an effective date of Nov. 15, 1941. Did a complete tear down and clean excluding trigger group. It was beyond fouled and dirty, though it ran long rifles effortlessly. Love old Remington anything.😘

I have one, stock was about 3 different colors when I got it, redid it and did probably a 90% tear down and clean. Looks great and shoots great now.

Looks to be without a grooved receiver so that puts it before 1954.

I have a 1952 that is a couple of months younger than I am. Picked it up at the LGS that I work at occasionally last winter.

The 'smith and I looked it over. The sear screw appears to never have been touched, still staked in place. Stock finish looks original, not like a lot of the "Bubba'ed" jobs that were found in a corner of an old farm house around here.

Great rifle.

550-1

I got a "well used " one for my 13th birthday in 1963 and is still a very accurate 22.As a kid I would run shorts - longs and LRs thru it at the same . Gun never failed me. I still have the gun and will pass it on to my daughter.
