BROWNING BL22 GRADE 2
S/N 054##PY226
DOB 1982

Well I was out doing a few errands and decided to go by the local Cabelaís to cruse the gun library. There in the case was this BL22. I asked to have a closer look. The blueing is in great shape with no issues. The stock has a few cosmetic spots but otherwise in great shape. I did some negotiation and ended up paying $375.

When I got home I took it apart and gave it a good cleaning. I donít think it had ever been apart. All the insides were covered in dried gook. The magazine tube was also full of grunge. Upon checking the disassembled parts I found the firing pin would not move. I drove the firing pin retaining pin out and found this.

Now itís all cleaned up and ready to go out for some blasting.

Looks like you saved yourself some grief by breaking it down and cleaning it up. Looks great! A deal from Cabelas was unheard of in my area but itís been awhile though since Pro Bass took over.

Nice gun. Cabellas is where I got my Grade 2 too. I find a lot of guns there stilll, even after Bass Pro. Now just no 10 day return policy, and the required waiver of liability paper. I really like the bl 22 , and the short action. I found that Hornady one shot really slicked it up and improved the trigger from the get go.

Good luck, have fun, be safe.

Nice ! I've been wanting to go shoot mine, but the weekend weather has been crappy.
Are you going to stick with the stock sights ?
The BL-22 ( and the SA ) are so small, they kind of look funny with a scope, unless it is a very compact one, like the Leupold Rimfire or Redfield Cub.

I happened to have a Williams GRS on hand, so I tried it, but it's going to require a very, very tall front sight, higher than the .430" one I put on it.
When I get caught up from moving expenses, I'll order a Skinner.

For now I'll stick with the iron sights. The lines on these rifles looks so nice without without optics.

Agreed, they look better without scopes. But peeps don't ruin the lines, and I (and most others) can do better with a peep.
