Athlon Argos Hmr 2-12 (looks good)

Looks like a winner, even has some features missing in higher end scopes.

My favorite all rounder is the vx-6 2-12, down side is that parallax really is and issue under 50 mags over 8x. That and the price tag.

Don't have much knowledge of athlon, but they seem well liked.

The new 2-12 seems to have a lot going for it

1 inch tube
sub 20oz
illuminated
decent reticles
at least 20 yard focus distance from what I see in the pic
awesome fov at 55.6 ft at 2x
of the 3 options one is exactly 300$

would have to be pretty bad optics for it to not be a really good all round rimfire hunting scope.

Anyone Have one? Ordered one last night, but it will be a couple weeks till it ships.

Will do, I wanted the floating illuminated circle and it turns out it's still a couple weeks out.

In one close up pic it goes at least to 20 yards so that would be a good option. Honestly if the glass is even serviceable it should be a decent option.

Cameraland has the 600 and 600a reticles in cataloged and in stock it appears.

https://cameralandny.com/shop/brands...iation=2720787

Link to the 600. Honestly don't know much about athlon, but they seem to be vortex 2.0 and they are willing to bring some interesting products to market so its worth a shot. I complain to everyone with a contact form we need something compact, close focus relatively light with the 2-12 mag range. A company listened, so I'll put my money where my mouth is and give it a try. I have a couple 2-12 leupolds and they are perfect, except for the lack of side focus....... and maybe the price.

I have several Vortex and Athlon scopes in comparable product lines and magnification ranges. (I'm sure Athlon deliberately matches up against Vortex as much as possible.) I like Athlons for price and features, but all other things being equal, Vortex does have better glass. I personally think optical quality usually worth the extra cost, but if budget is a concern, you will be fine with an Athlon. The differences aren't huge; kind of like B for Vortex versus B- for Athlon.

Just be sure to CALL Cameraland (Doug, Jeff, Joel...) and tell them that you're an RFC member. You will get the best deal available that way.
