Measure the barrel tang with a micrometer and measure the bore in the receiver with a bore gauge. Call Brownells with the dimensions they should be able to tell what part is out of speck.

Lol Brownells is nowhere near that helpful. They've gone to hell the last few years.

Threads are also not concentric to the bore. Got a call tag to send that POS back. Dont trust them anymore.

Thx for the suggestion.

I received a Brownells BRN-22 standard receiver last week and when I went to install the Ruger OEM sporter barrel it slipped right in with no effort on my part. To tighten it up and reduce any play, I added one single wrap of aluminum HVAC duct tape to the barrel shank.
Not the grey canvas duct tape, the extruded aluminum tape. You can get it at any well stocked hardware store. Even Home Depot and Menards carry it. Make sure you trim it even with the chamber face and notch out the extractor cut out. Tightened the barrel shank right up with no play whats so ever. It's a cheap fix and actually works.
Hope this helps.

I had to send two of the Brownell's receivers back when they first came out. That was enough for me. They were out of spec, plus the slot where the charging rod goes is just wrong. Slipped out the first time I tried to put in a bolt and had a heck of a time getting it out. The last two receivers I got were Tactical Innovations just because of the color options. Great receivers though. I spend a little more and get a TI or a Kidd now.

Its a crime how much receivers are. AR15 receivers are more complex and can be had for $30.

Cant prove it but I expect the previously returned disappointing receivers were put back into stock and sent to others.

Bingo! I noticed mine had a couple marks on the receiver where the bbl had been inserted and the baggie for the bbl was torn.
