Whistlepig build

Hi all. Got my Whistlepig barrel, 16.5 non flute mat black. Put in my early 70's receiver. Went in with a firm push with a little oil. Put in a Magpul FDE stock. With a Leupold freedom 2x7x33 rimfire scope on top. Trigger by Brimstone tier 1. At the local indoor range today, under dim lights getting 3/4 10 round groups at 50 yards using Federal auto match. No reliability issues in about 150 rounds. Much happiness. Hope to be able to post pics soon. Thanks

Hey, for a bit over 100 bucks plus or minus a few

...it's a price that's hard to beat

So this becomes my 2019 Black Friday deal
Last year I scooped up a couple of JWH bolts around this time

I heard from more than one Reliable Source that WP barrels are Darn Decent, so for the price, they represent great value.

Given all of this, I am very anxious to try mine

For less than 100 bucks shipped you can't go wrong. With the small amount of rounds I have through it, the results are promising. Looking forward to more testing with difrent types of ammo. Still trying to figure out how to post pics.

My new Whistlepig barrel shot pretty good this morning. After 150-200 round , including 50 HV CCI AR ammo , I wiped the breech of the barrel and checked for signs of bolt bashing . Nada ! Nothing .
Since it was windy , I didnít try to shoot any groups , I spent the morning plinking at cans and a 4Ē plate at 115 yards .
Had a hoot bouncing the cans around and hitting the plate . Once I figured my holdover , I only missed the plate a couple of times and I contribute that to gusty winds .

I'm thinking of building a squirrel rifle with a scope (currently using one with open sights). I like how quiet longer barrels are so the WP 20" is what I'm eyeballing because of the price. Now that you've shot yours a bit, how do you feel it would handle in that capacity?

Should make a accurate and quick handling rifle. As for how quiet it is, I'd think it would be about the same as any 22 with a 20 inch barrel. What stock are you thinking about using. Something like a Hogue stock and 2x7 scope would be a great little squirrel gun. Hope that helps

Ordered a 16in barrel and will build a similar rig. Not much traction in the original thread on Whislepig sale. Ordered one on the 10th. Confirmed shipping arrival the 16th. We shall see . Merry Christmas.

This my thinking as well. I'm just a casual blinker. Minute of beer can and rodent ninja. Have a few different stocks to configure. Maybe a 18in next.

That's my thinking as well. Another 16 inch barrel with a red dot in a axiom stock. Should be around 4 lbs.my current build with scope and bi pod is around 6 lbs give or take a few ounces. Looking at swapping the Leupold for a Arken 4x14x44 scope for long range. So the weight will go up.

I got their stock/barrel combo for our project rifle. Need to see what it can do beyond 25 yards (our indoor range limit) once the weather cooperates a bit.

Thanks! I almost got my wife the purple stock, but realized you can't go wrong with basic black.
