I am posting these so you can see how well our factory class and unlimited guns can hold up and perform on an ABRA Target.

It was about 94 degrees with winds at 6 to 8 mph pushing from the Northeast.
Our range points 110 degrees East-South East.

Let us know how your unlimited gun is stacking up with the guns above. We want to help shooters get their Unlimited builds to their optimum capability.

ABRA San Angelo Match Results 08/22/2015

We had our 1st Junior shooter of the year today and he came from Wimberly, TX.
Darek Biggs won the Junior Factory class using a new rifle and did quite well.
HAVE YOU HAD YOUR DUST TODAY? If not, then you didn't shoot with us. Variable winds at 16mph with gusts to 29mph made for some interesting shooting - NOPE - no 190's were shot today!
Other than Darek - we had one other new shooter - Ruben Cantu who shoots silhouette with us at San Angelo as well - looking forward to seeing him come back and shoot with us as well.
Senior Unlimited - High 1st target was a 187 from Bill Middlebrook High 2nd target was a 188 from Mike Kirkpatrick; High 3rd was a 189 which was the high for the day from Paul Dyer.
Paul also shot a 187 on the 4th target as well as taking 1st place in Senior Unlimited.
Senior Factory - Yours truly had the high 1st and 2nd targets with a 180 & then a 171 (notice the score drop off?-the wind did not but picked then); Adrian Morales had the high factory target on the 3rd target with a 182. He also had the high 4th target with a 175. I managed to secure 1st place in the Senior Factory group.
I have attached a copy of the score sheet for your viewing, But before I go - I have to thank Bill Wynne and J.D. Dennis's grandson Hunter for scoring help. After they had to leave, it was in the capable hands of Dale Burnett.
It's good to see and compete with folks who drive so far and we want you to keep coming back - Chuck - Bill Middlebrook - Dale Burnett - Mike Kirkpatrick - we sure enjoy shooting with y'all. Till next time:
See you at the Range,
Ron Herring

ABRA San Angelo Match Results 09/26/2015

Great light wind conditions today & we had good scores to boot. With light wind we usually don't shoot as well - but mother nature blessed us today.

Darek Biggs won both the Junior Factory & Junior Unlimited class today. He really liked Bill Middlebrook,s Unlimited Rifle - Thanks a bunch Bill.

Paul Dyer whupped everybody to win the Senior Unlimited division with a 191.75 aggregate - however - Mike Kirkpatrick tied that aggregate EXCEPT Paul had a higher single target score to break the tie. Paul had a 196 on the 1st target; a 194 on the 2nd target to take those high targets.

Dale Burnett had a 197 on target #3 which I believe is the high score thus far for San Angelo. Mike Kirkpatrick came back swinging on the last target with the high for it of 194.

Bill Middlebrook Had the high 1st target of 183 in the Senior Factory class; and Ron Herring had the 2nd; 3rd; & 4th high targets of 183; 183; and 181 respectively to take 1st place in Senior Factory with a 182.00 aggregate.

Our next match is Oct. 24th followed by our Club Tournament with 6 targets on Halloween, the 31st of October. We hope you'll join us.

See you at the Range,
Ron Herring

ABRA Kentucky State Match Results 2015

ABRA / Blue Brass Sportsmen's League in Kentucky State Match Results:
Considering the weather forecast we had a decent turnout for the match. It turned out to be cool and windy with 15 mph winds but the rain held off so it was tough but readable. We had some decent scores considering the wind. Arthur Schaffer won UL, Michael Blackard won the factory, and Thomas Niblett won the youth UL. The yearly winners were Steve Gillam in the factory class, Mike Niblett, first and Steve DuVall runner up in the UL class. Andrew Vickers won the youth factory and Jenna Hall the youth UL. Both had 20 matches to qualify for the drawing for the rifle to be given away. We had a great first year and everyone improved, equipment and scores. We look forward to next year with everyone thinking of improvements.
Thanks,
Mike
Congrats to all the Kentucky Shooters. It has been a great year.
Thank you,
Joe and Lisa

ABRA San Angelo Match Results 10/24/2015

Well, it was windy as heck. As you look at these scores - especially for the Senior Unlimited class; it is obvious (at least to me) why I (we) love this game / competition so much.

For a total of 4 targets shot by 6 different competitors - there is only a total of 15 points from 1st to 6th place! A total of 1 point from 1st to 2nd-3rd-&4th with each of those places actually tying with the tie broken only by the higher scored targets. And between 1st & 5th place only 5 points different.

If you haven't shot ABRA before you need to get a 10-22 or other semi-automatic 22LR and come out and join the fun!

Senior Unlimited: The high 1st target was by Jim Swaringin with a 187 (we had a total of 4 187's shot today and that was the high score for the day. The high 3rd target was a 187 (with a tie breaker with Jim Swaringin) that was shot by Chuck Spaugh. Yours truly (me) managed to have the high 2nd target with a 185 and the high 4th target with another 187. I was the overall winner with a 183.5 average and 2nd-4th places (with tie averages) were Jim Swaringin (2nd); Chuck Spaugh (3rd); Paul Dyer (4th).

Senior Factory: We only had 2 competitors today and I lucked out and took 1st place in it with Adrian Morales taking 2nd place.

The results are attached in a .pdf file for your viewing.

NEXT SATURDAY - HALLOWEEN - is OUR CLUB TOURNAMENT. Come out and enjoy the camaraderie and competition as we shoot 6 targets with approximately 10 competitors coming up to shoot with us from Boerne as well. Paul Dyer is smoking a brisket and we'll have drinks and fixin's to go along with it. There will be a minimal cost - $15.00 for shooting 1 class & $22.00 for 2 classes with those fees covering the meal as well. We will rotate shooting 3 targets and then swapping while others shoot 3 targets; etc. until we are through.

See you at the Range,
Ron Herring

Spooky Halloween ABRA San Angelo Club Tournament Result 10/31/15

YES - we had the tournament. I was the first vehicle to be stuck this morning & thanks to another gun club member we were successful in ferrying our gear to Range 12. We started about an hour late due to all that; however, Mother Nature blessed us with no more rain and the range dried out enough that all were successful finally getting their vehicles to Range 12 to load up for the trip home.

There were 18 Senior Unlimited Competitors; 5 Senior Factory Competitors; and 1 Junior Unlimited Competitors.

Darek Biggs took home the "GOLD" as well as a nice plaque for Junior class winner with a 185.5 aggregate + points.

Mike Kirkpatrick took 1st Place in Senior Unlimited shooting a 194.33 aggregate without points. (Most of us gave credit to one of Joe Chacon's rifles that he shot) but it was great shooting. Joe Chacon came in 2nd with a 192.00 aggregate & I eked out 3rd place with a 190.67 aggregate. 1st high target was a 194 shot by Terry Paradee; Mike Kirkpatrick took the 2nd high with a 196 as well as the 3rd high & the HIGH for the DAY of 198; I managed to have the high 4th target with a 195; a 4 way tie for the 5th target of 193 between Mike Kirkpatrick; Joe Chacon; Ken Finley; and Paul Dyer was broken with Joe Chacon receiving those honors; the high 6th target was a 197 and shot by Mike Kirkpatrick as well. What a field of Competitors!

I took 1st place in Senior Factory by breaking a tie with Ken Finley (on 6 total targets) due to having the highest score on 1 target.
Ken Finley was 2nd with the identical aggregate of 184.83; and Bill Middlebrook was 3rd with a 176.83 aggregate. The high 1st target was by Ken Finley with a 187; 2nd target was a 188 by me; Ken had the high 3rd target with a 189 as well as high 4th target with a 187; I had the High for the DAY of 191 on the 5th target and the high 6th target with a 185.

Most all are looking forward to the Texas State Match in 2 weeks in Boerne to wrap up the year for ABRA competition. Hopefully we San Angelo shooters can make a good representation again for that - I'm looking forward to it.

I'd like to wrap up by thanking ALL those who helped make this a Wonderful tournament! Paul Dyer smoked a perfect briskett; Darren Krumwiede got the tent up with assistance from Jim Swaringin; Bill Wynne helped with ice and transporting it to the Range; Adrian Morales helped get target backers up as well as breaking down the tent -etc.etc.etc. I appreciate ALL fo your efforts and apologize if I've missed someone.

Finally to ALL you competitors - we thoroughly enjoyed it and wish to compete with you again - you're welcome here anytime!

Results are attached - See you at the Range,
Ron Herring
