Beretta 71 Jaguar. Slide Jammed Open Good & Proper.

See attached photos.

Jammed securely open, all the way back onto the fully cocked hammer. It won't be easily dislodged.

The problem is, I believe, due to the kinking & catching of the extractor spring somewhere between the head of the recoil spring guide and the receiver.

Any help with this little issue would be appreciated other than "take it to your local gunsmith" as I live on a small island in the middle of nowhere with few to be found.

Many Thanks in advance for any replies received.

Regards,

A.

There is nothing that should hold the slide back like that. Since it is happening anyway, something is wrong. I think you know this.

If you are sure the slide hold open is not engaged, and there is no magazine in place, I would put the barrel latch in the unlocked position and tap on the end of the slide with a non marring mallet and make it come forward and off the gun, along with the barrel. If you get it off and find the recoil spring is binding I would fix that issue then.

Fixed?

Curious what happened and how this ended up. I'm guessing a broken take down lever.

At this stage, just bang the back of the slide on a 2X4 cause whatever broke to let her go that far back is already broke!
