There are a lot of products that do the job. I've been using Bore Tech Rimfire Blend and like it a great deal.

After every range trip: Ballistol. One wet patch followed by 2 dry ones and a last ballistol soaked one. Before I shoot the gun again: a dry patch or 2.
About every 2000 rounds: Bore tech rimfire blend and a bronze brush.

I have used a lot of products over the years, now I am using Shooters Choice MC-7 mixed 50/50 with Kroil. I was just using the MC-7 and I bought Kroil for another use and then decided to mix it. If I didn't do that I might have the Kroil forever.

Every year I make up a gallon of Ed's red, and give half to the local Scout camp to use in their CZ 22s. My Uncle Art showed me how to make it 20 years ago, and I ain't looked back since. It will get the copper out of my Model 59 9mm and also out of my .40 S&W.

For a stubborn ring, #9 and kroil mix has worked the best for me with a 6mm brush. for all other cleaning most of the stuff works fine to get the loose stuff out. but i have gotten the bores clean with other products, then used hoppes/kroil mix soaking the ring and scrub and more nasty carbon keeps coming out where it was all done coming out with other products.

I've used Hoppes #9 for over 50 years on all of my firearms and it's always done a good job. But when I started shooting AR rifles I changed to MPro-7 especially for the BCG carbon buildup. I now use the MP-7 for just about everything. I still miss the smell of Hoppes though. Just doesn't seem the same in Gun cleaning without the smell of #9.

What Hickorynut says. Worked very well for me after a session at his house. Had a Rem 541 that started to widen out alittle instead of the dime size clusters at 50 yds. I believe the 6mm brush on the carbon ring was the key. Anyway, worked well for me.
