I've found the same thing about CCI's Standard Velocity and their Blazers. I'll be glad when I can actually find some again!

The problem with Ruger is they refuse to use a match chamber in a rifle the market as a "precision or target" Rimfire.

And there design does not lend itself to easy barrel changes (10/22 not withstanding)

I may try to epoxy the stock. I saw a few videos on it, and I like the idea. I also thought of weighing down the butt of the stock with lead shot or something, I know it defeats the purpose of a lightweight gun, but makes shooting so much better.

I have about 2500 rounds of blazer lead, and though it's dirty, it is pretty reliable and OK for accuracy

Ammo preference

I sighted in my Ruger Am. rimfire for the first time last week and was really disappointed in the accuracy from some of my ammo that runs well in my rimfire bolt actions like Stingers & Yellow Jackets, but also brought some plain ol CCI 40gr. Round nose just in case there were feed issues and those were by far the best groups.

with mine, I am finding at 50 yards, subsonic like the Auto Match, or CCI Standard, or aguila subsonic yields about .75-1.0" groups repeadably- slightly better if I am really slow at breathing... At 100 yards, it needs high velocity or the bullet drop is like 7" and the wind blows it everywhere.

Luckily, 1 walmart near me had Auto Match back on the shelves, around $18.67 a box, so I got my limit of 3. Going to go back and check again tomorrow, see if they have more. I will get what I can when it's there, it's normal pricing and I love that stuff.

I had a chance to buy a couple cases of it like 2 years ago, regret not doing it...

Does Ruger still make the 8338? I'm not finding it on their website.

I may have mistyped the model number- 8334 I think is what mine is.
