A friend of mine got his yesterday. He was having trouble with feeding, extraction, had one cracked case and one xase with a badly bulged head. I hate to hear these things because the HM2 is a great cartridge that has had a history of bad breaks. Another big foul up could kill it for most people.

What’s going on with this rifle. Besides Eric’s pre-production A17M2. The consumer rifles are having nothing but issues. This makes me want to wait for their next production run.

I requested that Savage send me one directly off their production line. If I can find one for sale locally, I'll pick-up one of those as well. The one I currently have (production rifle) functions perfectly and I have been hunting with it a lot recently here in Idaho and in Montana.

I'd like to hear from others who have the rifles to see how they are performing. I will update as soon as I have more information from my end.

WOW, let's let the dust settle a bit fellas. I'm amazed that you guys got the rifles. I can't find an A17 M2 for sale any where, on line distributor any where to save my life, or one that had even heard of Savage distributing this rifle. My bad, I did see there was one for sale on GunBroker for 400.00. Did you guys pre order them or just walk in the door and there it was?

I called my local Savage dealer / gun shop and they said they hadn't heard anything about the A17 m2. Since then I have been looking all over the web for someone that is taking orders. I've checked whittikers, buds, the usual places that get the early release of new firearms, and crickets..... maybe it's a sign to just wait a few months.

Happy for you guys that got them, I think you guys are on the tip of the spear in regards to the release of these rifles. I guess I'll just be patient and wait for my LGS to begin taking orders for them.

savage a17 hm2

got 2 of the savage a17 hm2 rifles
both work flawlessly
neither rifle has 200 rds through them and still get .380 3 shot groups at 50 yds. 1" or less even with a flyer here and there
I have shot eley, Remington, cci, cci vnt and Hornady

I am very happy with mine. hope others can get one and enjoy them like I am.
