Awhile ago I asked a question here about matching a blued barrel to a silver receiver (rather than the more typical reciprocal). After some positive comments I thought I'd put it together. I had a KIDD silver receiver and single-stage trigger and I mounted a Feddersen 18" polished blue sporter barrel, and I put it into a heavily modified 10/22 walnut carbine stock with a .920" barrel channel. It just didn't look right. So, I broke down and ordered a KIDD 18" Lightweight barrel in silver -- looks a lot better.

Why do I describe it as a new/old hybrid, you ask? Well, the rifle has all KIDD components in a circa 1980s walnut carbine stock that I bought quite awhile ago from a fellow RFCer. I had circumcised it and then sent it off to Mike Turner (Turmite). Mike added a Bubinga forend tip and re-finished it to bring out the color and figure. It has a metal butt plate and Chaser (our resident ultimate polisher) offered to polish it for me and I graciously accepted. Then it is topped off with a Weaver KT-15 15X scope in Gloss that I've had for many years. Weaver, of course, doesn't make them any longer.

I'm listing it here in the Ultimate forum because I think it qualifies.

Doug

New/Old Hybrid

Doug, I am not going to say pretty, gorgeous, nice, etc., just PRISTINE!! I am still having a good laugh with your circumcising the stock! Sounds like something Chaser would come up with! I am thinking of the same barrel myself. Pristine and great shooter has to go together in that build.

Many thanks for all the compliments. I generally prefer blued receivers and barrels, especially with a nice walnut stock, but this really did turn out better than I had expected. The KIDD "silver" components seem to have more of a frosted finish than matte. Anyway, I like it. Just hope it will shoot as good as it looks.

Brown noser!!!

Just kidding- I only said that because you posted exactly what I wanted to say.

Doug certainly has a penchant for classy looking rifles with elegant looks that are built with top end components and most, if not all, are great shooters!

Nice rifle, Doug!

Classic Looking...........

Seeing this beauty reminds me of a classic car show. This babe would look really nice in a classic 10/22 show!

Nice work, Doug. Really nice & not over done!
