Side mount peep sight. Are these sights for use only up to 50 yards? And I have no idea what the incremental markings indicate as to distance. I tried some 100 yard zeroing today and ran out of correction.
First time I've shot the CM2 as I've been using the my Suhl 150 at club 100 yrd matches with no problem doping it in at that range. We don't do 50 yrd matches.
Want to use it for 100 yrd. Suggestions.

Photos would help.

If like most of Europe, the USSR's 0.22 club programme was broadly based on ISU/UIT shooting, 50m was the main distance. ISU matches dropped 100 yards in the 1950s.

For a 26-ish inch target barrel and SV ammo the switch between 50 and 100 takes approx 2mm/0.08in on the rearsight.

Both of mine easily dial well past 200 yards. Since I got my Ural they haven't been shot so it's been a while but I'm pretty sure I was able to dial to 300 yards.

I just checked in my book and with Old Wolf it needed 39 clicks to get to 100 yards and 137 clicks up from a 50 yard zero to get to 200 yards and 194 clicks to 250 yards. I didn't have anything written down for past 250 but I'm sure I've shot it farther.

Both of mine had the side mounted peeps. I'm over the hill at my range waiting on shooters but its raining and no one here yet today so I can't look at mine but isn't there two holes in your rear peep to put the eyepiece in? Might be in the wrong one.

I've never had any luck with scales on peep sights. At our long-range matches we dial up to 15 or more distances and counting clicks has been the only way to be accurate enough for our small targets.

CM-2 rear sight adjustments

If your sight is the one provided by the factory, then for target .22 LR, generally there is about a 6.5" drop from 50 m to 100 m (for a typical rifle barrel), which translates into about 6.5 minutes of angle. 6.5 MOA x 4 clicks / MOA = 26 clicks (clockwise is up). Try this adjustment for starters (if you are zeroed at 50 yards) and go from there. If numbers on the side of the sight have something like "2.5 mm" and "50 m" recognizably engraved, then it is probably 2.5 mm per click at 50 m, which would be 5 mm per click at 100 m. There are 25.4 mm per inch, so 5 clicks per inch would be about a 1/5 MOA sight, so you would need 6.5 MOA x 5 clicks / MOA which is 32 or 33 clicks to get to 100 m; so 30 clicks is a good bet for starters (100 yards).
