My "New" 1980 Single Six

In my 76 years I've never owned a revolver. then this March I bought two. First was a 4" Tarus Tracker .44 mag stainless revolver from my friend. (Needed something for backpacking in griz territory.)

Second was a used, 1980 manufacture, six inch barrel Single Six with both .22 LR and .22 WMR cylinders. It had some holster burn but that just gave it character.
I bought a HUNTER leather holster with a snap strap over the back of the trigger guard. A simple holster but effective. Now I'm looking for a matching leather belt for it.

I was very happy to see the high standard of fit and finish in the Single Six. Ruger made it to centerfire single action revolver standards and thus it maintains its high re-sale value. I paid a very fair $375. for my Single Six from a Mass. gun shop that sent it to my local gun shop in Las Vegas.

My Single Six, in .22 mag format, will be the "companion" pistol to my Ruger 96/22 mag lever action rifle. That rifle now has a Green River octagonal barrel and it shoots a ragged hole at 25 yards, even with its crappy trigger.

Rugers, revolvers, etc...........

Right after I got out of the navy (1971-2?) I was in a LGS in Atlanta and found a nice Ruger Single Six convertible in the used display case. It had been fitted with adjustable target sights and a nice set of stag grips. I bought it for the princely sum of $65 out the door! Haven't shot it that much over the years, but I do still have it. Think I'll take it to the range next time I go. I hope you enjoy your Ruger as much as I have mine!

Yes to this. I owned my first single-six in about 1966 and unfortunately sold it some years later. I managed to buy another one used but like new early this year. I'm within a year of being the same age as 300winmag, and I plan on keeping this last single-six as long as I'm still breathing.
