Metric Fasteners ??

Log in to see fewer ads
Just picked up my new 10/22T and wanted to replace the four scope rail screws with socket head screws, but they seem to be other than standard thread pitch.
(32 or 36 TPI) Are these rifles metric?
Also ran into a similar situation on my Weaver scope rings - Has the whole gun world gone metric??

Thanks, and yes, it's been a while........

Welcome!

FWIW, they are not metric. The threads are a number 6-48 Redfield/Leupold base screw. As far as I know this 48 pitch is only used in the gun smithing industry.

FWIW, I like to start out with a slightly to long screw and grind it to proper length. To get maximum thread engagement.

Thanks - I'm going to check again in the AM but I don't think (?) the pitch is as fine as 48, but the again, the Starret thread gauge will tell .........

Now why ask a question about about something you know nothing about and responds with a answer like "I don't think (?) the pitch is as fine as 48"?
