Shipping for me was about $20 for 10 boxes so it came out to about $13/box. Not too bad

Thanks for the heads up. Confirmed my ten WMR's. Added the limit of two (2) three hundred round cartons of CCI Landry .22 Lr hp. Additional shipping for the Lr's was less than two dollars. I can live with that---

Well, what did you expect? 3 weeks later... Yes, supplies are beginning to reappear here & there, but still, nothing would lead me to expect rimfire ammo to stay in stock more than a week, if that...

Speer 22 Short Barrel WMR

At the gun store again vacuuming up what rimfire ammo I could and the sales guy says he has some Speer 22WMR. Fine, I got it. Why not? Something else to shoot.
Last time at the range the wind was nasty so I only popped off ten rounds of this ammo before parking everything in; looked like it would group decently
Today I saw some for sale on the internet but for the first time I noticed a FPS of a bit under 1100 FPS. Turns out it is a special 40 grain ammo designed for short barrels.
Live and learn. I guess the idea is to put a faster powder in or cut back on the charge to reduce muzzle flash and noise from standard rifle designed rounds. No problems ejecting from my 597 Remington semi auto.
Headstamp indicates CCI manufacture.

Seems like a wrong headed idea unless maybe you have a small derringer and want to cut down on the fireworks.

Actually, any 22WMR handgun: 22WMR [being originally intended for use by varmint hunters in rifles] has long been recognized as not supplying significant velocity gains over 22lr out of short barrels & making far too much noise & flash for what velocity it did supply. The popularity [& consequent unavailability] of the PMR30 should give an idea of the demand for such an ammo product.

In the past few years there's been a couple of "short barrel" 22WMR offerings listed, but of course, nobody has been able to find any since the ammo drought has meant any 22WMR has been virtually impossible to find.

Glad to hear the OP found some ammo: that's begun to be a more frequent tale. Yay us!

I'm fairly certain the 1100 FPS is out of a pistol barrel. Out of a rifle barrel, it's going to be close to 1800 FPS. It shoots great in my RAR.

Found A Brick Today

Stopped into a WalMart today just to see and they had one brick of CCI Maxi-Mag 22WMR HP's for sale - .286 cents a round/$14.30 a box, including sales tax @ 6%. I haven't seen any 22WMR in months and nothing at this price. I Bought half of it and left the rest for the next guy.

Rifle ammo and short barrels make for nice theatrics.
I fired some rifle.223 ammo in a TC Contender with a .223 14 inch barrel as i recall.
BIG blast and a fire ball. Impressive show heh.
