Searching for a Mark III 22/45 frame and the only ones actually in stock appear to the the Volquartsen frames for about $500 which seems a bit high.

Knowing I would replace the stock internals, do I hope another vendor gets one in stock, hope to find on for sale on the boards or just get the Volquartsen built frame?

I own 3 of the Volquartsen 1911 style Target Frames along with an array of different uppers. The really nice thing about these frames is not just the quality of the craftsmanship and the great actions but the adjustable barrel lug that allows me to have lowers set up to swap certain lowers with different uppers and have a good fit without messing around. All that and they just fit my hand so well and just feel better than plastic.

I used to see 22/45 frames for sale every now and then but since the Mark IV came out it seems that most of them have dried up. If you really want a Mark III 22/45 frame you could always purchase a complete gun, keep the frame, and sell the upper. Its a bit more of a pain but you will get exactly what you want.

Will keep that in mind.
Only concern is the upper won't get used and after replacing the internals the overall cost will probably be more than the frame originally mentioned. Always good to have a backup plan though.
