I wonder how many of the people now buying guns or thinking about it just a month ago were nodding their heads in agreement to have them taken away?

mass hysteria here in nowhere good... Boss is talking a 10% pay cut "temporarily" Thankfully I'm all set ammo-wise (tp too!) I spent the day going through the pantry making sure everything was in date. I did replace my door gun (a Rossi .38 spl) with a Remington 870

Yes, there will be a shortage of both guns and ammo

Due to the closing of many manufacturers of both firearms and ammunition.

I see this new surge as a good thing.

1.) Gun stores are making record profits after a 4 year slump.
2.) We have a bunch of new shooters joining the gun owner ranks
3.) There will probably be a good amount of used firearms for sale in the future
4.) I have seen an uptick in requests for private shooting instruction

I believe this one will be a far shorter run than the 2008-2016 shortage. Yes ammo prices have gone up as a result of the increase in buying. That is the law of supply and demand. It will come back down eventually. I can wait until that happens. In the mean time I am using this event as an opportunity for social observation. I am gathering data points for future preparations.

Has anyone seen panic buying of .22 rimfire ammo like during the "Hillary will be President" scare? I haven't looked yet, but I hear there are limits on 9mm/.223/762x39 etc.

That panic wasn't as bad as the one after Sandy Hook at the end of 2012 and into 2014. It hasn't gotten that bad yet. Seems like mostly people are buying 9mm and 223.

I see Target Sports is raising prices on some of their CCI and Aguila rimfire ammo.

Absolutely reports of long lines at gun stores and most definitely due to the virus scare. I hope all these new buyers take some time to learn safe gun handling rules, etc.

I hope that most of us learned from the last ammo shortage that we wouldn't be caught with our pants down again I know I learned my lesson and I'm sure many others here did as well. This virus crisis will determine what happens with ammo , if we get ahold on this virus the ammo shortage will be very temporary IMO

I remember the last dozen panics. Somehow we always end up on the other side and the fools who panic bought TP, guns, and ammo at outrageous prices never learn. Fear helps fools part ways with heaps of their money. No one even knows why they are buying TP. They see other people doing it, so like lemmings, they must do it too.

I'm pretty confident I'll survive my umpteenth apocalypse this year.

I checked a couple sites, and an RFC header sponsor had pistol, 22rf, and 223 ammo as unavailable.
The bright side is there will be less gun shows with gougers selling rf ammo in baggies.

It's less insane today, than it was yesterday.
