July 2017 CZ/BRNO Open Sight 50 foot Rimfire Central Online Benchrest Match

Log in to see fewer ads
Guidelines:

CZ or BRNO open sighted sporters less than or equal to 8.5 lbs when weighed with the magazine removed any safe trigger CZ factory open sights only (no optics, peeps, ghost rings, apertures, or receiver sights allowed).

Target is the USBR Target (The Green Monster)

22 long rifle

Fired from a benchrest using front and rear support, must be free recoiling (no gun vises), but a bi-pod is fine if the shooter prefers.

Distance to target is 50 feet

Time limit - 1 hour for unlimited sighters and the 25 rounds for score

You can shoot on an indoor range if it is your only option, but please report that fact in your post.

You can post multiple targets if each is fired with a different CZ. For example, a shooter could post one with her CZ FS and another with her CZ Trainer.

Post a pic of your target and the equipment you used in this thread by July 31, 2017.

Honor system, and we couldn't ask for a more honorable bunch. Remember, you can shoot up to four targets and post the highest score of the four.

A spotting scope will be most helpful in determining hits and misses as you are shooting, but it is not required. Binoculars or a scoped rifle laying to the side can be used to spot as well.

A couple of positives I observed when comparing this match to other benchrest disciplines:

The match is not as sensitive to pricey ammo as other BR disciplines because any decent long rifle ammo will shoot into a single hole at 50 feet from one of our beloved Czech sporters.

And wind, while still relevant, is far less of a factor.

Wind flags are fine for either the 50 foot open sight match or the the 25 yard scope match. I usually tie a piece of bright streamer or the like to a hammered-in stake.

*Use this format to post your score(s):

07/04/2017
221-3X
scourge of the trenches (Alvin C. York)
CZ 452 Lux, CCI Standard Velocity
Two sandbags under forend and one under the buttstock (licked thumb and touched front sight post before each shot)
Cloudy with light winds and temps in the low 50s.

* This way I can simply save and insert your scores to the final results post at the end of the month. Thanks.

How to score:

TARGETS?

Good question!

It looks like Kolin, the head guy of the USBR organization, will still sell you 10, 100, or 200 to get you started. This is how I got my first batch back in the early aughts. Here is the link to his notice on the USBR site followed by the link to American Target Company for a minimum order of 250.

Come on guys, are you going to let me win this by default with a lousy 218?

Spent a couple of hours at the indoor range shooting some of my handguns. Also took the opportunity to send the green monster out 50ft and give it a try with my 453 Lux. This was my second attempt. My first attempt was looking pretty good, right up until I double shot bull 15. Two attempts at this back to back is really one more then my eyes can handle.

FFournier
453 Lux, factory stock
Ammo:SK Magazine
Eagle front rest, Protektor rear bag
Indoor. Only option.
Score 218 2X

Good target FFournier, I think anytime you break 200 with open sights it is an accomplishment

I was inspired by this little guy's 50 yard dash across the ranges as I set up my bench.

I couldn't get it to open from FireFox but I switched to IE and saw it.

And I salute your creative use of the term "dash". :
