Not many bright spots in this match, but 470 is a good score.

25 Yard Iron Sight Practice 9/1/2019
Scores: 467-9X three 8s
465-12X one 6, six 8x
Name: 72coupe/Roy Woodman/72
Location: Wichita Falls, Tx
Gun: Ruger Precision Rimfire
Set up: Good Iron Sights
Ammo: Federal Automatch
Notes: Didn't feel very good but I thought I would go to the range anyway. Take my advice, taking a nitroglycerin pill in the middle of a string will not help you shoot better.

Hey Bob, Tell me more about your Glenfield Custom.
I'm shooting one from the late 70's. the only thing I have done to it is replace the trigger springs. [ And shoot it a lot]. To shoot it off hand I did add taller scope rings. Other that that it's still the way I found it. The stock is showing some wear , but I am afraid that if I refinish it will somehow lose accuracy. I found it in a pawn shop in 1980 for $20!

How about yours?

Couple of target panic jerks is all it takes to ruin a 480.

Labor Day Iron Sight Practice
Score: 459-3X
Name: 72coupe/Roy Woodman/72
Location: Wichita Falls, Tx
Gun: Ruger Precision
Setup: Iron sights
Ammo: Federal Automatch
Notes: It was really hot and humid, sweat was running down my legs. I wasn't shooting very well so I quit after one target and went over to the 100 yard range and shot 100 rounds of sitting rapid fire and 100 rounds of prone rapid fire with a friends M4. Didn't do very well there either.

This little rifle is so much fun to shoot that I forget I'm trying for precision, it just feels like a little kid out plinking, guess I just have to get serious.

Scoreboards, and a Request...

Scores are updated for the August Matches.

May be time for a little reminder on posting entry scores...PLEASE take a minute to review the following

Feel free to post your monthly shooting progress discussions any way you like, but when you post something that is (or might become) an actual entry, PLEASE use the following format:

(red added for emphasis here, actual entry text is all black)
*** 25 Yd SCOPED **** 8/6/19
SCORE: 429-6X

NAME: Bob4BVM
, 69
LOCATION: Oregon
GUN: Glenfield 25 Custom
SIGHTS: Scope @ 12X
AMMO: Aguila SESV
INDIV TGTS SCORES: 91-3X, 81-0X, 87-2X, 84-1X, 86-0X

Note that the lines I highlighted in red are most important as they tell me at a glance Who it is, What Match its for, and the Score, and other details that import to the scoreboard spreadsheets. Those items must appear in my spreadsheet, exactly like that & in that order, when I import your entry to the spreadsheet. If it's not like that then I have to reformat your entry so it looks like that, otherwise the data does not land properly in your score history line on the boards.
The format of the Score digits is also important for your score ranking to land in the right place on the boards.
Score format should be exactly like this: 465-8X That's score, dash, x-count, capital X. No spaces.

I go thru the entire month's posts looking for your best scores to use anyway, but it helps me immensely if its there in this format. What is tough and takes a lot of time is having to read thru text to locate scores. Even worse is when the entry is in an attachment to a regular post, if I cant at least read the text here I am very likely to miss it completely.

So, you can save yourself some time and save me the trouble of reformatting your report so the data works in the scoreboards spreadsheets if you save a copy of the above example, then just put in your score, name, location and your equipment information. Save that copy and next month you will only have to change the score (and maybe the gun/ammo you use).”
Save the format in a little Notepad file on your desktop so it is always handy to copy/paste your entries.

Thanks for your help everyone, and thanks for shooting this match with us !
All the best,
Bob4BVM

Thank you Bob, we are better at shooting than paperwork. Great competition this month glad I was able to post four scores and get on the lower step of the podium.

NOTES: The mighty tug. The 94-2X had 7 tens, 2 almost tens and a 6. The tug was so great I was sure I had missed the target entirely.

Almost all morning was overcast with a bit of light rain. The targets were impressively clear without the overpowering sunlight.

Hit the range about 8:00 a.m. Dead calm conditions. I had a relapse to "milking the grip" on more than a few shots. I was taught as a young'n to gradually squeeze the gun tighter as you pull the trigger. Shot (or tried) like that for many, many years.

It has been maddening to remember to grip the gun semi-tight (not a death grip, but firm) and only move the trigger finger.

Keep trying, Merle. Practice makes perfect. Shoot as many sets a month as you can muster and your scores will improve!!

Any trigger time is time well spent.

I like your comment about the X count going up. It really helps to be optimistic and look at the bright side.
