Hi Larvic, The pic you show for a 6-1 rear sight is a top mount type. Mine has the side mount type. I'm not real sure about this, but do believe the top mount rear sights are newer models than the older side mount types. There are soooo many minor variations in these rifles that it's real hard, if not impossible for me to pin the exact model down on these rifles. My "Vostok" CM-2 even has the side mount rear sights. It'd be really nice if there was a comprehensive guide for the history of these rifles. I've seen bit's and pieces on them but nothing that really pins down every variation of these rifles, and trust me, there appears to be MANY variations, minor, and major.

Welcome lavric! If it's the same lavric I know from other sites, then he shouldn't have any problem reading the manuals.

Hope to see you around!

side mount type.

My Ural has side mount type. Comrades on Russian forum said: I have Ural. First model. Tomorrow will read manual for Ural-6-1 and disassemble rifle.

Larvic, That's a really nice looking "Vostok" Ural-1 you have. Your's appears almost identical to mine, except mine is a blonde, but the dark walnut?(or is it stained) looks really nice. Best bang for the buck that I've gotten on a rifle. These rifles are really diamonds in the rough, and excellent shooters(at least mine is). Dis-assembly is a cinch with these rifles.
