If it is that much trouble I will work around it unless it interferes with my scope.

Toz 78-01 How about removing the reat sight?

It appears that it is just mounted on the scope rail
and can be tapped off toward the barrel.

Anyone done this?

Also the front sight has a small pin in the mount,
could this be tapped out and the front sight worked off?

Rear paddle sight is easily removed - drive out pin, and tap off of dovetail.
Front sight - no idea, never done.

But I think barrel is turned down at muzzle,
so not exactly very good looking.

I believe I will definitely have to remove the rear paddle to accomadate a scope.
Once I get it mounted I will see if the front sight is in the sight picture.
I can`t mount the scope more than 1 1/2 inches from base to be within rules for silhouette.
As long as I can see the crossairs I guess it will be OK.

Leupold tip-off scope mounts ($11) will accomodate a 32mm scope bell
and keep rear sight attached for use.

No front sight ghost image seen - 4x scope.

Does anybody know where I can find a new Toz 78?

Or did Winchester put the kibosh on further importation,
now that they're bringing them in as the Wildcat?

Thanks,

-John

I have a hunch that's the case.
Though I wouldn't mind being proved wrong on this one.

I think CDNN has a good price on the wildcats right now.
Someone here may know of a smaller operation that still has TOZs in stock.

The Toz 78 is real rare find these days.
Peachstateguns.com is where I found mine and it was the last one in stock.
I believe he got one or two more after mine was sold they went pretty fast.

Check the website send a email,
they respond fast and can let you know if any are in coming in the future.

Are these rifles any good?
They are quite cheap down here in Australia.

Good Performance ... Good Value

Yes, for the money they are good.

For the accuracy, it would be difficult to find a better value.
