Problem with a Stevens 87A

The rifle has always worked as designed, until today. Took it to the range, loaded 10 rounds in the tube, holding steady on target and pulled the trigger. 6 rounds down range before I could get my finger off the trigger. What the heck just happened??????
I cased the rifle and headed home.
Any ideas what could be happening?

Action may be just dirty. Used to have a Mossberg semi-auto that would double tap when the innards got dirty.

Thanks, I'll give it a good cleaning and see what that does.

Took it all apart and gave it a good cleaning, it works correctly now. I picked up an old Weaver Model 29S in excellent condition and mounted it on this click-clack. I bore sighted it and with a little fine tuning, she is a nice accurate rifle.
