Buckmark Hunter and Tandemkross Halo question

Log in to see fewer ads
My Google-foo has failed me thus far...

I have a Buckmark Hunter I purchased in early 2011. I'm wondering if the Tandemkross Halo will fit its slide. According to the Browning page, the slides changed in 2000. But my slide does not look like the pictures I see of the current production. My slide looks like this:

On current models, the serrations run the full height of the slide.

So...will the Halo fit my Hunter?

I would email TK they are really good about getting back with an answer. The last time I contacted them they emailed me the answer in an hour and a half.

OK, submitted a question via online contact form. I had checked the Halo product page, and the latest answered questions were from 2017, with some submitted questions unanswered. I'll update with an answer. I did wonder if someone here had gone through the same process

Tandemkross answered...apparently I have the "old" slide (despite having purchased a new-in-2011 Hunter; guess Browning had a big pile of "old" slides to use up...), and the Halo won't fit. I can buy a new slide for $62.25 from Browning. Which, I'm not really inclined to do, just to use the Halo. (I was actually planning to get the "race gun kit" which is $145, so this would put me at half the cost of the pistol itself, to get those parts.)

Anyone want to trade slides?

Or know where I could pick up a used "new" version slide?

As long as you can use the gun, doesn't hurt to wait and see who may want to trade, or trade + $.

I came across a guy on the Henry forums looking to trade his big loop for a small one. How often do you see that? Turns out he wanted the small loop for his Mare's leg.

My point is you never know what people are willing to trade...........

I'm fine with that. Any suggestions as to where to put it out, aside from the Trading Post here?

I actually wanted a small loop when I first got my Small Game Carbine. Now after shooting about a brick through it, I really like the large loop.

You could always send your slide to Striplins and have him install one of his slide rack grips.
They look like this............

I've seen those and they look really nice, but I think I prefer the Halo design - specifically, the straight-back pull.

I don't know what the story on the slides is. Mine was made in 02. Old slide. I'd get a new slide, but mine was a Camo Camper, and I don't want to replace the camo with black (just nitpicky). My Uncle's is a 2006, and it has the newer style slide. We got him a Halo for Xmas last year, and yes, I think its an awesome piece.

The Striplin racker is a solid piece. I don't know what Billy's turnaround would be right now, he generally backed up. If I was getting one, I'd definitely send him the slide to mill it out and install though. (Easier for me since he's like 25 miles away) I still also prefer the Halo though. I like that finger loop business. I've nearly bought one just to see if I could modify it to fit the old slide.

I had posted a thread about the different slides, a few years ago.
