Need a source for a classic 22 extractor

Log in to see fewer ads
I have been lurkjng for quite some time on the site. Finally joined today as I need to find a replacement extractor for a 22 classic. I have 2 classic 22's, a benchmark and a Lynx. I decided to do the extractor fix and I over did it on the benchmark. I called all the usual places, TCARMs, GunParts (Numrich), Brownells and am unable to locate an extractor. TC arms said they no longer have any. If anyone knows where I can find a replacement please let me know.
Thanks, Ken

I would suggest placing a "want to buy" ad in the RFC Trading Post.

Still looking to see if I can find an extractor. I am no machinist but I may have to try and make one myself. That could get ugly quick.

One possible solution would be to scribe a new one by tracing the old one onto an appropriate thickness sheet of metal. If it has a hole, I would drill a hole first and then use a pin to set the hole location relative to your scribe marks. Cut what you can away with a hacksaw and then with pliers and a belt sander you may be able to shape a new one that will work.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will continue to look for one but if I have to make one your suggestion is a very good one. I will see if my machinist neighbor can get me the metal I would need to build it from.
Thanks, Ken

Thanks, I checked their website and they do not list Thompson Center parts.

I'm also looking for spares.
I sent one of my extractors and firing pins to a local gunsmith to have spares made. He got the dimensions right but the heat treat or the metal wasn't right because the firing pins did not last past 500 rounds. They sheared off. Same with the extractor.
If I was in your shoes I would buy a Ruger 10/22 firing pin and pass that pin and the broken extractor to the gunsmith.
He could then trace that outline onto the Ruger pin and cut or file the extractor out of the pin. He may get two extractors out of one Ruger pin.
If it is of any help, I can post a high resolution scan of my extractor here.
