I, just purchased a Heritage Rough Rider 22LR. Upon inspection at home I noticed that mine has 5 clicks when cocking the hammer instead of four. The first click (safety notch) seems good. The second click seems good (let’s me rotate cylinder). The Third click spins cylinder (It seems ok). The 4th click (cylinder spins about an 1/8”). When looking down barrel it is about an 1/8” out of alignment. Then on the 5th click (Cylinder is perfectly lined up.). I can pull trigger on both the 4th and 5th click. It will drop the hammer both times. What do you guys think?

IF you don't get the answer you are looking for here take a peek at the Heritage forum at gunslingerforum.com.

I have a few Heritage revolvers and don't have that issue with any of them.

Luck

Taurus/Heritage sent me a shipping label to send the gun in for their gunsmith to look at. They said it should only have 4 clicks instead of 5. I cant believe their turn around time is 12 weeks. In the mean time I will be looking for a Ruger Wrangler. Also, I don't like Rural Kings Gun policy. I asked the employee behind the gun counter if they could take the trigger lock off the gun so I could inspect the action. They said no. This could all have been avoided if I was aloud to because I would have caught it.

There should be only 4 clicks, the sear snapping into the slot on the cylinder, and the final hammer notch for the trigger should occur at the same time. if the sear is snapping against the cylinder too soon, before the hammer locks back, then something is out of time, probably the hand that revolves the cylinder, or possibly the trigger to hammer set. Definitely needs an expert's touch, gunsmith or send it back to mfg. Definitely not safe, and the cylinder will get scratched up eventually.
