Black (or Blue) & Stainless?

OK, it's not unusual to see a blued (or black) receiver (and trigger group) with a stainless barrel. (I know some folks view anything other than a blued (or black) receiver with a blued (or black) barrel as a sacrilege.) But what about a stainless (or silver) receiver (and trigger group) with a black barrel? Or is that outside the envelope? Just wonderin...

Doug... I have built many 2-tones.. mixing the Rec./TG/Barrel colors are IMO very nice if done right.. I try to tie colors in with the stock.. I say do it.. use your imagination and fuget about common practice and opinion.. mix it up Man

I think either one could look nice. The black receiver stainless barrel was a distributor exclusive, Iíve never seen , until now a stainless receiver with a blue barrel. Hereís my take on the phenomenon

why limit your color choice of receivers to just black or silver?

If monochrome is the objective, maybe Ruger could sell silver BX triggers.

Since 10/22s are modular, putting together parts guns with a mix of colors is fairly common, either spec'd that way or because those were the parts that the assembler had on hand.

Thanks for all the input -- and pics. I think I'll go for it. It will go into an Applejack Evo stock, so color is not an issue.

Who cares what it looks like? As long as it shoots is all that matters. It's not a beauty contest.

but if you can make it look a little better than the next guy's...why not?

besides, I've found it is easier to get the kids and women involved in shooting if the rifles are more colorful

My wife likes an "old looking gun" with modern features. My problem has always been that I can never tell what she wants in a gun, she has a Rough Rider that matches her Marlin 60 and Marlin 883, they share ammo (22LR and 22WMR) for all 3 weapons. But, her 9mm is a G2C that she bought for how pretty the colors were, now she wants another to match other outfits.

So, yeah, what they look like is important, to some. If it is not important to you then you can join me in my corner shaking heads and wondering why some even care.

Now, I will point out, I like my firearms for functionality, but I am being very resistant to the whole AR platform. Don't get me wrong, I love the looks, I love the interchangeability, I love the customization and its easy of use. I just have issues with having to defend myself in a court of law if I were to need to use 1. But, it is on my list, single shot 12 gauge, then a 243 for the wife for deer this year, then a scope for said 243, then a scout rail for my 336 and a red dot, then I want to start reloading, and after that comes the possibility of an AR platform. But, I digress.....

I see your point in the colors, it makes sense. It's not for me though. I guess I'm just a plain person...LOL

I'm not one for anything flashy. YMMV
