Accuracy for recent 15-22 rifles

What kind of accuracy have folks been getting on 15-22 rifles purchased let's say within the last two years?

I'm in the market for a complete .22 upper to run on my AR. As an alternative to that, there's the 15-22. I had a 15-22 years ago, would consider one again as it was reliable and fun to shoot, but accuracy was always mediocre and I've found this common complaint almost everywhere. Even the Performance Center versions were not consistently accurate. Wondering if folks are still seeing this, for example, can you shoot dime-sized 5-shot groups at 25y, and sub 1" 5-shot groups at 50? These are things my 15-22, and any that I've seen or heard credible reports of, were not able to do consistently.

As long as the 15-22 uses a polymer upper, you will not get the groups you seek consistently. I have both Gen1, Gen2 and PC versions and none of them shoot sub inch at 50.

Now I do have a nordic components upper that prints great groups on par with my cz455 with good ammo. I have also started using Tippmann Arms M4-22 Elite as a replacement for my dynamic training.

Interesting, hadn't heard of Tippman.

Do they use fairly common/standard components for the .22lr part of things, or are they all proprietary?

For the AR components--like trigger, receivers and lower controls, buffer tube, etc--are they a 'real' AR?

Also interested if you have any pointers to the kind of accuracy folks have been getting with these. Searching in the old threads now....

The Tippmann 22lr parts are proprietary just like 15-22. The triggers, handguard, butt stock, pistol grip and muzzle devices are interchangeable with standard AR stuff. The Tippmann upper / lower are also proprietary like the 15-22, but the barrel nut thread is standard AR.

As far as bench accuracy with the Tippmann I have never really sat down with it to see. Only really shot for groups when sighting optics and it will usually give me 2 inch groups at 50 yards using Mini Mags. (when I do my part)

I bought one when they first came out and another in 2017. I never considered either as a "target" gun. Both are great for 12oz drink cans at 50 yards and 5oz V8 juice cans at 25 yards - using CCI sv and mm.

I did check the newer one with SK Rifle match at 50 yards when I was setting up a scope on it in 2018. The groups were better, but generally around 1.25 inch - no sub 1 inch.

I do have a .22 CMMG upper that will shoot sub 1 inch groups at 50 yards. It just amazes me. I've had it about 7 years on a lower I built with a Timney trigger.

The Smith is lighter and it's my wife's favorite, so we shoot it most often.

Good luck with your search.
