Scoping my G1 Contender 22 Mag

I have been checking out the fixed power series, the older 4x, 5x and 7x models. I have a 10" 22 mag that I would like to scope. Does anyone have this setup and care to report? Good news is that I have located a 7X, we'll see if I can get if for reasonable price.

What do you intend to do with yours, hunting, plinking, target? I have a 14" .22 mag barrel that wears a 4x Leupold and is a lot of fun to shoot. The 7x will work well for target work and hunting provided you have time to locate the target with the limited field of view. With a little practice you should be ok.

The use would be mostly target and plinking. That's what I enjoy the most these days.

A fixed 4, 5, 6 or 7x is a lot of scope for anything but shooting from a rest. A variable that goes down to 2.5x or even 1.25x would do a better job of covering all types of shooting, especially offhand shooting. In fact, a lot of my barrels that I use for offhand shooting wear red dots. For me, ease of use in a pistol scope drops off fast as magnification goes up. Each too their own, however.

I'm shooting my contenders with 2.5-7X, 6-24X and 10X scopes. All shoot well on 14" barrels. The 2.5-7X is on my .223 and works great out to a silhouette ram at 125 yards. It also shoots great at 50 yards

My first of several scoped Contenders, a 10" .22LR Match with a Bausch & Lomb Elite 3000 2-6x scope. It's also shot creedmore style for silhouette matches.

Nice scope, too bad they don't build those anymore. Do you find not having AO hinders you in any way?

Bushnell took over that line, known as the Elite 3200 series. Don't know if those are still made.

Not having the AO didn't bother me at all. I hit every silhouette target I correctly pointed the gun at and was never surprised by the location of those hits compared to how I viewed the target in the scope.

I haven't been able to find them anymore. I'm glad I bought one back when you recommended it to me. I should have bought two.

IIRC the 3200 has the parallax set for 100 yards.
