Story of my life. What I try to do is decide what I want the knife to do, then pick out which three will accomplish it. Then grade esthtics - price - rarity and go from there.

Sometimes having done that, one will be offered such a good price that I feel like an idiot for passing up. Try and get over that feeling though because the herd explodes when you do that. Another deal will happen again and again.
Amen!
My knife intrest took me out of the buying platform, and I began making knives a few years back. It was to save money, and make what I wanted when I wanted it.
For the record I didn't save any money in that process.
I still bought production knives, and others makers knives too.
If you are a knife guy/gal chances are you always will be a knife guy/gal. I think im good to go, but then I am not...

Here's another from a BladeForums maker, CAC Knives. I ordered this one to be a gift, after getting it I ordered another for me. Very solid, D2 Steel, made in the USA. You get a choice of backspace color and plain or black screws. For mine I went with a red spacer, black screws. I'll post mine when I get it.

Nice blade there!
That petrified wood makes for a great presentation platform. I don't know if you tumbled it yourself, but it looks great.

Just picked up a Mora Bushcraft Survival BlackBlade. Sheath comes with an integrated fire starter and a diamond sharpener. It's not a "survival" knife in my opinion - too short - bush craft in my opinion. Put it on a belt I wear when using a carbine length firearm. Looking forward to taking that combination on some walkabouts and see how it performs.

My 25 year old Randall #26 Pathfinder on top, a new Pathfinder on the bottom is the new knife I bought. The old one has been through many a deer and has proven to be the perfect knife for me.

Got this one this month, too.

Viper "Hug" with green micarta covers. I have several Vipers, top notch Italian made cutlery.

I picked up another Randall this month as well.

They finally offered their 75th Anniversary knife. It was supposed to be out around 2013 but two of their senior knifemakers in the shop retired, taking >100yrs of experience with them. Some other delays and then COVID, they finally announced them in 2020.

Only 200 made, lottery system for an opportunity to buy one.

I'm glad I didn't opt for one, just not my style. I would have sold it. I have heard a few complaints about the quality of it.
