Here we go for May

OY! What a month April was!
Still awaiting word from the range whether they'll reopen soon.
I'm waiting...

I hope you're all healthy.

*Until we return to normalcy and the shooting ranges are open for business, it's okay to shoot a pellet gun at 10 yards at the target of your choice (trigger time is trigger time). If you can shoot rimfire, please do. Some of us can't. I'm sure we'll do the best we can under the circumstances.*

Make a note of these, they will be the guide for all future Fun Shoots'
SmallCal.

RFC Fun Shoot; Classes and Rules
This Fun Shoot is for any RF cartridge rifle, to include the following, .22 RF, .22 Mag. , .17 RF.

All targets in each class are shot at 25 yards.

The (old) rules for Class 1 expired 4-30-09 and have been deleted. (This update to C-1 made 7-16 09)

Note that we will use three different classes of rifles for this shoot and from now on and these class rules will apply for all future Fun Shoots. Make a note of them.

(NEW Rules for Class 1 Fun Shoot as of 7-16-`09 SPECIAL ADDENDUM to C1 irons and scoped shoot. PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

This Class 1 Fun Shoot is reserved for beginners and novice of any age.

Targets will be generous and fairly easy to learn on.

Class 1. Box Stock HUNTING/PLINKING rifles only, NO target rifles allowed. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of a scope with variable power settings and shortening of the butt stock for fit to smaller shooters. Scope power will be assigned at the time of the shoot. Usually not more than 9X. Iron sighted rifles will use original sights or replacements like the original. Any rest is allowed except Machine Rest.
These modifications to this Class 1 shoot are implemented to allow older beginners and novice shooters to join in the Fun Shoot without the heavy competition of shooting against target type rifles and highly skilled shooters. Those rifles and shooters will go to Class 2 from now on. If you have questions, PM me direct. SmallCal

PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

SmallCal

(Unchanged)
Class 2; Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifles. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of adjustable scopes with the power setting assigned at each shoot, adjustable receiver sights, globe front sights, trigger modifications/replacement to lighten weight of pull but NO low end limit but must be safe. Barrel replacement of any design that doesn`t make your rifle exceed the weight limit of 10.5 lb. total weight. Stock modifications or replacement stocks that resemble thumbhole or sporting stocks which have a convex forend profile and horizontal width no greater than 2 inches wide are allowed.
If your Modified Sporting Rifle exceeds any one or more of the above limits, it will be in the higher Class 3 group.

(Unchanged)
Class 3; All of those rifles that were/are designed for the strict purpose of Bench Rest Shooting with unlimited modifications and all of those rifles that exceed any limits in the Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifle class.
This class can be divided into two sub classes of those bench rifles with scopes (unlimited power) and those with iron sights (unlimited type). This sight division will allow all of the super race guns to be included here.

If you are unsure of the class you should be in, go to the next higher class and state that on your score/target postings.
I do know that there will be some rifles that are so close to fitting into more than one category that its hard to tell where they should go. If in question, go up a class.

Post score as shown here.

You guys are shooting well this month, Jack's really smoking the targets.

I have another air rifle target. Shot a couple days ago.. it seems my shooting takes priority over my posting..lol

Chilly807, Sean
99-5x ,Class C3 irons w/air rifle @ 10 yds
Iron sights - Daisy apertures
Daisy 953C (Sooty) Anschutz Finale Match pellets
Weather conditions- light breeze L-R
Excuses.. I thought I saw a black fly!

I've got a C3 scoped target to post tomorrow. Nothing great, but shot with the use of gunpowder, which is really a novelty at the moment.

Those are some beautiful pictures Stan. :bthumb:The clarity is awesome. You could work for N.G. We have some Eagles around here but not many. I saw 2 last year and none this year yet.

That is a really nice target Sean.:bthumb: I am gonna try it if our weather ever moderates again. Snow here 2 days in a row now with no accumulation. Very high winds tho.

You guys have shot some really good targets this month!

I pulled the squirrel gun of my youth out of the safe today.

RFC Alias: WVU94, First name: Robert
Score w/ bonus: 120/120, Class: I Scope
Scope: Weaver Classic 2-7 @7
Rifle make: Browning T-Bolt (Salty), Ammo: CCI SV
Weather conditions: 12-15mph 64F
Excuses: Windy and not the best ammo in this gun, but mainly, I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn today.

Is in the black a 5 or 10?

You got it right, Robert. The black and the white parts of the diamond count.

Good shooting!

If it's priced right, then go for it!

I've used TTi before. Working on a batch of SM-300, it's better :)

A friend of mine loaned me his 1952 Winchester Model 52A with peep sights. He purchased it from a friend in 1963 for $54. As far as I know everything on the rifle is original such as trigger, stock and etc. What a pleasure to shoot. Shooting at 25 yards with my old eyes is not easy, but this peep sight helped. You younger spring chickens could have probably done a lot better. I shot 3 targets and all were about the same. In fact one target has two holes in one bull as it is hard to know where you are on a target. I am probably too old to think about buying any more rifles or guns, but....... This is a really good shooter and probably not for sale.

Thanks Kilerham! I built that front rest about 8-9 years ago from wood laying around my garage. I probably got the plans from a magazine so it is not my original idea. It is light enough to carry easily yet does the job for me. If I can find the original plans I will send them to you.:bthumb:

Good shooting, Ralph.. :t

I always wanted a 52 (single shot), but it hasn't happened yet.

Maybe someday...

Tikka T1x "Tia"
Vortex Diamondback HP @ 16x

Weather conditions- nasty tailwind from 5-7 o'clock
Excuses.. I know better than to shoot when it's windy!

While I was missing things, even a house fly escaped! I think the Tikka doesn't particularly like the Rifle Match. I might get a chance to try it with the CZ tomorrow.
