Auto bolt release is a pain with a takedown

I installed it because my xl mag release got in the way and was difficult to unlock the bolt.

Now it's way easier to unlock but too easy. It won't hold locked anymore. Have a hard time keeping it open to remove and install the barrel. Might have to switch back to oem. Anyone else have this issue?

Solution might be a a med size mag release and oem lock.

Did you buy a ready-to-go part, or file down a part yourself?
I did the filing on the original, and it works great.
Then I got a BX trigger, and moved the filed part into it, and it still works fine.

Is it possible you filed too much? Not sure what the effect would be...

I bought the ready made part. It will auto release if you tap the gun slightly. When holding it to remove or install the take down barrel it moves a lot and subsequently releases the bolt.

I mean if I installed it wrong it wouldn't work at all right?

Are you two both from CNMI?

I ask because my oldest kid lived in Saipan for a year in 2009/2010 and we went out to visit for a while. Fabulous place.

With a name like chomorro you just had to be from that part of the world, I reckoned.

Isn't Guam in the CNMI any more?

Think I figured out the issue. My extended magazine release is preventing me from fully locking the bolt. It's too thick, if I use my nail and lock it going around the release it functions perfectly well.

Picture is it fully locked and working. Hmm mm I guess I need a different shorter release.

Actually never mind. ........ the indent seems to go down far enough. Stumped

Update, with an empty mag installed it works absolutely perfect with no issues. But I never leave a mag in there for assemble or takedown Ideas?

I was born on Saipan in 59, in a quonset hut hospital up on the hill. At that time, it was a CIA training facility.
I went back for a few days in about 1982, and did a couple of awesome scuba dives. Also found the native lady who had been my baby sitter.

I don't think Guam was ever part of CNMI - it's a separate political entity (territory). All the rest of the Marianas are a Commonwealth. But back in the 50's/60's, Saipan was a "Trust Territory" (maybe Guam was part of it then? I don't know.). I have a 1956 license plate from Dad's jeep that says "Trust Territory, Pacific Islands".

Thanks! It hadn't occurred to me that it could be a different political entity that close in the middle of nowhere (so to speak).

Hafa adai! Lol

Issue is solved for anyone who finds this thread. I went back to the oem mag release and no longer have problems with the auto bolt release. Not sure why, may possibly try a medium size one in the future.

Nice to know you found a solution.

I seem to remember a joke based on working hours and Hafa Adai...

My TD is very difficult to release the bolt with a mag inserted. Take out the mag, not too bad. It is a factory bolt release, and the mag release is factory too. I can live with it as I have other guns to use.
