SIG Trailside grip question

Would like to reshape a pair of grips for my Trailside to make them a little thinner, more like a 1911. Not interested in tampering with the original laminated blue ones. Does anyone know if the black plastic OEM grips are solid backed? If so, I could reshape and finish in textured ceracote.
