Magpul Flat Dark Earth Archangel Marauder Anyone?

Okay, looking for your guys' thoughts on this. What do you think of offering the Marauder in the Magpul Flat Dark Earth and Olive Drab green colors? I've always thought of the G36 as being a solid black rifle, but I recently saw a couple of pictures of airsoft G36 rifles online and thought they looked pretty cool. We are going to have our local guys that do Cerakote finishing try it out one of our Marauders and see what the cost ends up being, but for now I'm just interested in seeing what you guys think of the overall concept. Here's a picture of an airsoft G36 to give you guys an idea of where I'm going with the project...

Also, instead of doing the whole gun, what about accents? (e.g. colored buttstock, magazine, side rails)

I generally only like all black but I might be worth it as a special order deal. Looks great.

I did an Archangel 556 in a similar color a while back. I wouldnt mind a Marauder in the same color since I do live in the desert.

I like the FDE. Cerakote is generally not cheap. I guess it would depend on the price.

i didn't realize that Magpul had trademarked the FDE and OD colors.

i wouldn't be surprised if Magpul announced a 10/22 stock at SHOT to compete with the Troy chassis and everything else. no inside info on that... just one of those things that won't surprise me when it happens. anticipating something to match their MOE furniture.

i was planning on getting an ISSC MK22 in FDE, but they seem to be having problems now and may be Tango Uniform.

Maruders molded in colors would be a hit with some, not with others. if it's painted? meh. not so cool.

No eye rolling necessary. It's not a trademark issue, at least I don't believe it is. We should all know that not all colors of the same name are created equal. There can be a lot of variation, especially among the various versions of Olive Drab. The human eyeball can discern more shades of green than any other color of the spectrum. Magpul just so happens to have their own version of these colors and Lauer offers a Duracoat color that is supposed to perfectly match Magpul's FDE as well as OD green.

Absolutely correct. I don't think it's even possible to trademark a color, it's just that we sell the Magpul AFG1 and RVG a lot with the Marauder, so if we're going to give customers the option of a variation of FDE, then the Magpul FDE would make your accessories match... oh, and it would look great in your gun collection next to an M4 with Magpul FDE accessories!

We offer the AA556 in what we call "desert tan"

We have been kicking around the idea of molding the Nomad in the same desert tan...

I wonder if there would be much interest?

Ship it with syrup....cuz it would sell like hot cakes. It seems like desert colors in general are very popular right now and for years to come Im sure.

I would imagine that a dark earth Marauder would sell good, but I think it would only work if it was trimmed out with black accents such as the buttstock pad, charging handle, safety selector switch, and screws and hardware. Then again, those items could be painted to one's desire after the purchase too.

I agree on the black accents and would definitely go for FDE over desert tan.

We're taking our first Marauder to our Cerakote applicator today to do the first FDE Marauder! I'll post up some pics when she's finished!

I bought a new 10/22 and vacillated for months about the Archangel colour before buying. I chose the tan.

Here is why. You can paint the tan to black, if you want. You can much easier
camo a tan stock. You are WAY ahead if you want to do MultiCam.
A black stock must be brought up/down to earth colours before doing Camo.
If you are fine with a black gun, then just buy black.

I have owned a Corvette and a big BMW in the black outside, tan interior.
Those two cars always got the attention, always the standouts, sharp looking.

If you look at the G36 and compare it to HR218's Archangel it is as if you see
a beautiful woman with and without makeup. The tan with black adds drama.
(Not slamming you HR218).

I just received my tan Arch Angel kit, I will post my tan with black results.

Tommy
