The official Archangel Marauder/G36 thread...

I know you guys already know about this kit but I told Mike at Archangel Development that I'd post a thread and my thoughts on it so here it.

As some of you may already know I went to Shot Show 2011 a few weeks ago. Man did I have a BLAST!!!! Of all the high speed low drag products I saw I thought it was ironic that the most exciting product to me was actually something low tech and affordable.

The new Archangel Marauder kit blew me away! Obviously I love the G36 looks and feel but more importantly its actually practical. How so? Well my biggest issue with the older Archangel 556 kit is that the handguards are kinda short/small so my arms cant extend to my comfort zone. This new Marauder kit has longer handguards which solves that issue.

Also, the old 556 kit makes any barrel that is longer than 16" look extremely long in my opinion. Obviously this is not the case on the G36 clone.

The Marauder has a folding stock which I really like for real compactness. For some this may be less practical since a collapsible stock allows for better adjustment for LOP for smaller shooters. But for me, I like it since it stays true to the real G36.

The mag is a Ruger style rotary box mag integrally built in to a fake 30 round magazine body. I am guessing they went this route for reliability vs building a propriety single stack mag? I think its cool because I am sure a few guys out there would love to just buy the mag alone for its looks since I know some guys here that already JB welded their box mags to look like AR15 mags. lol.

The G36 top rail is perfect for mounting optics such as an Ampoint and you dont need to buy a riser. I liked the fact that it comes with adjustable iron sights so its ready to shoot right out of the box. My 556 kit was not ready until I bought some sights.

It also comes with sling attachment points on the handguards which my old 556 kit did not have.

It looks like you can ad side rails if you like just like on a real G36.

My only concern is the $200 price tag. I am guessing they chose that price because its comes with alot more features built in and the magazine? I really should have spent more time there. Oh yeah and you cant use standard Ruger box mags but I couldnt use them in my old 556 kit either.

Hopefully I will get my hands on this kit ASAP and get to do a full build review and range review for you guys soon.

Here is the video I took. Enjoy.

So we can only use their mag? Why is that? The 10 rd factory mag should still work, shouldnt it? If not, i sure hope you can extra mags in future .....

^ Zomer, What I meant was that you cant use a rotary box mag because it sits deeper inside the kit and I dont know anybody that has finger skinny enough to reach in there and pull them out . Technically you can insert a standard Ruger box mag but it will be hard to get them out unless you JB weld a little mag pull device to get it out.

Of course you can always use Butler creek or Ti 25 round mags which I think alot of folks usually do anyway.

Drum mags wont fit unless you bust out a dremel and cut space for it but I personally would not do that to such a nice looking kit.

As for .920 bull barrels? I'll have to get back to you on that? From what I saw it look like there might be clearance in the handguards for a bull barrel but I dont want to saw until I get 100% confirmation.

I talked with one of the folks at ProMag/Archangel last week and they said that they will be offering a 25-round .22LR mag for the Marauder that fits the 10/22 but it will have the body of a .223/5.56 mag for looks.

I'm wondering the same thing too. I think I'm going to try contacting ProMag and see if I get an answer.

Yeah... they don't take emails. Call them and you'll get someone ...or they will call you back.
