the 10/22 I just bought had the Ruger zip tie in it too.

The one I just bought had it as well, but I don't think it was even in the chamber it was loose in the box.

Good catch on that, and I am with you I always field strip all new guns before firing.

Just bought a 10/22 yesterday from Gander Mt. The zip tie was broken off in the barrel also. I was inspecting the bolt mechanism for metal chips from manufacturing and just barely saw the end of it in the chamber. I thought it was a piece of paper at first and surprised at the 4" of plastic that came out. I did find the other "Ruger" tab in the bottom of the box.
I try to flush all my new guns with Rem oil and blow out the receivers with compressed air to get rid of metal shavings. It must work cause I just ran 200 rds thru the 10/22 with zero issues.
