I was at an auction on Saturday and they had a Marine Corp Fighting Knife that was in excellent condition including the sheath. It sold for $80 which seemed really low and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what they think a good value would be?

About $5 more than they sell for on Amazon, You're talking about the KA-Bar, right?

Note: this is the Parkerized 1095 version. The 1282 D2 synthetic version seems to go for about $120:

BUT, the D2 blade will be easier to snap/break.

Neither of those knives is like the one we sold on Saturday. It was a much older knife and appeared to be an actual service knife in my opinion. It was a Kabar.

Your best bet might be to look on Ebay or other websites for service KA-BARs. If it was a WW2 issue it would be worth $300-500 from what I've seen.

KaBar

The first example offered from Amazon says ď imported ď, my KaBar is not imported. It was made in the US of A . Mine is like new , I have another one that was my Dadís that is rather worn . If it could recall itís life it would be a real tribute to a hero .

I bought one about 15 years ago that was parkerized with the hard USN sheath . A friend had it and I gave him $12 for it. It sharpened up and cleaned up great. If my memory is correct it had USN, 1943 on the sheath. Now my son has it in his collection. It was a great price then and I dont know the value of it now. Hope you can find one at a good price.
