Yes, IMHO, they are. I got a Wednesday gun and and it outshoots anything else I have - the better the ammo, the smaller the groups.

CZ 457 Varmint MTR

I paid $750 USD otd for mine and just put a tasco “Japan” 35x on it. All my 455’s constantly shoot one hole groups at 25meters and they were $550 and change plus tax otd or more brand new.

The extra $200ish is for that stock, target chamber and pillar bedding.

Now to your question “is it worth it?”.
Value and perceived value are a fickle thing. One mans junk is another mans treasure come to mind.

I bought one not because I thought it was wort it but rather bought one because I thought it was rather unique and “wanted one” that’s important here. I also know I wasn’t going to buy one in the box new for less and you have no idea what time frame these will be available.

$700+/- “is it worth it?”????

Let’s break it down with the few samples I have in 455
Cz455 .22lr T-hole I think I paid $650
Cz455 .22lr “I think” Varmint $550
Cz455 .22lr varmint precision trainer “$900 I think”.
None have the target chamber, all shoot exceptionally well as far as in concerned.

My cz457MTR $750 otd has a bench rest style stock that is just brilliantly attractive to the eyes and a target chamber with a very nice factory adjustable trigger that puts the cz455 to shame.

I think this rifle would have been priced along with my T-hole 455 in Boyd’s stock if it had been an offering in that lineup $650 then what do you get that is an up grade from the 455

Better bolt/receiver.
Better redesigned trigger.
Target chamber.
Pillar bedded.
What are these three things worth to you as a buyer and what is the extra machine work worth?

I hate to say it but I think the CZ457MTR may actually be a bit under priced at $750usd.

Don’t confuse this as to mean I would or want to pay more, but I did buy one new at asking price.
If you want one get one and wear a smile when you open the box and take it home. If it don’t live up to your expectations then sell it. You will more than likely be able to get your investment back out of it minus a slight users fee.

I haven't dealt with this dealer, but they have it listed in stock for the best price I have found (other places might show a lower price, but do not have it in stock).

Thumbs up Prior to the COVID...

Dealer cost on them was something like $598. With all the upcharges through the last year, that is a good price! IMHO

Go to the lgs. I like to look and hold a gun before i buy it.

Id like to see a 457mtr in real life, but from the pictures and reviews etc, yeah, id say its an interesting gun.

As for better, ill wait till i have one. Before i make judgment.

Buds used to do this. I’m not sure if they do now or not.

I bought my CZ 457 Varmint MTR through Grab-A-Gun. I have used them in the Past and are quick in shipping. I ordered mine at noon and received an email by 4:30 the same day with shipping information. This is my second Varmint MTR (my first was the CZ 527 Varmint MTR in 6.5 Grendel).

I must have got really lucky with mine. The stock wasn't anything to shout about, and neither was the accuracy.

If you're looking for a "match target rifle" ........... buy an Anschutz.
