Scope for 455 Evolution

Hello all,
I just bought a CZ455 Evo. I'm very much a newbie when it comes to rifle scopes. I've read that the J&P adapters are a very popular solution for mounting,may well as the Burris Super Zee rings. I plan on target shooting, probably only to 100 yards, but maybe less, and sometimes maybe more. Can any of you all recommend a decent scope and mounting solution for my new rifle? I've searched a bit, but like I said, I'm very much a newbie.

Look at the D.I.P. picatinny rail accessory.

It will give you an increased range of mounting positions, and you won't have to mess around with dovetail mounts and all their issues.
Notice that my scope is mounted a full inch further forward than any dovetail mount could achieve.

If you really want to shoot way out past 100yds, they make a 25 moa rail.

So pick up the DIP rail, and a pair of Leupold PRW mounts (or any picatinny rings) of the correct hight and you'll be good to go.

I second on the dip rail. Scopes are tricky. I started at 4-14 primary arms ffp, good scope for the money. It's on my 10-22 now.
On my cz's, I went mueller 8-32 mildot. Great scope but I moved up to a sightron 10-50 on my 22lr and a 2.5-17.5 sightron on my 17 hmr. Vortex would be a good scope but they set paralax at 50 so close shooting is hard. I have the mueller scope for sale in the trade forum.

Thanks! I'm going to buy a DIP sear, so this will save me some shipping.

As for scopes, someone recommended a Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40. Does that seem like a good choice?

I would say go with the Mueller unless you plan on stepping up to the Nightforce.
I use the Mueller on my Evo in benchrest and have won a few and put in a good showing in others the limiter being the rifle and I not the scope.

Thanks for the input, gents. I decided on the DIP rail, and a Nikon Pro Staff 3-9x40 EFR. From what I read online, it's a Rimfire scope that focuses from around 10 yards to around 100 yards...lots of great reviews online. I can't wait to try it!

The Nikons 1/2" MOA adustments at 100yds is too gross for target shooting in in my opinion.
And 9x is not enough power for target shooting a 100yds. It's barley enough at 50yds.

The NiKon would would be fine for hunting.

If you really want to target shoot even at 25-50yds, you'll going to want 1/4 MOA adjustments, if not 1/8".

My recommendation is the scope pictured (Leupold 6.5-20x 40mm EFR) or something closer to that.

Smoothtrigger hit on my only dig on the Nikon 3-9 efr, fine for a hunting rifle (mines on a .17m2) but not fine enough for target use in my opinion at least.

The NIKON and the Leupold are excellent scopes but a bit pricey. I have to cast a vote for the Mueller 8x32x44. I have several of these mounted on an Anschutz, a CZ455 varmint, a Savage MK II and a Remington model 37. Clear and bright--right to the edges. Good repeatability. All of mine have the target dot reticle. Very decent scopes for considerably less money--about $250 new. Just my 2 cents.

How does adding the DIP rail figure into the "what height scope rings do I get" question? Have you found a formula for determining ring height required using that DIP rail and an XX objective 'scope?

I plan to get a 455 and use either a fixed power Sightron 36x or Weaver 36x on it. My rifle will be used 99% off a bench at 50 yards. I am hoping those two will work okay at 50 yards...I've been using those successfully on my 100 yf CF benchrest rifles so I am "used" to them.

The Burris Signature Zee rings with J&P adapters work fine.
