Weblance, let us know how your sling mount works out. I haven't ordered anything yet because I wasn't sure what would work the best. I'll be using mine for hunting / pest control.

I was going to wait for the gray too but Bud's had the black one for $90 shipped so I jumped on it. It's a great stock.

I just got a couple of Magpul Type 1 QD mounts and using a MS4 works well (for me).

The Grovtec adapters shipped today, so I should have them early next week. I will post a comment, and a pic once I get a chance to play with them a bit.

Has anyone tried to adapt the barrel mount to a Hunter TD stock?

Really, you can't go wrong with the MS1-based slings, at least for non-hunting & non-competition activities. I wish I would have known about them when I was in the service, especially when I was an armorer.

GROVTEC Adapters Came Today

I got the swivel stud adapters from Grovtec today. Just as I imagined, they are well made, and work perfectly. There is a small hole on the end of the stud that you reach into the body of the stud with the supplied allen wrench, and press the button, and they pop right in. Once nested in the swivel cup, they are not rotation restricted, and feel very solid. I got these adapters on Ebay for $20, and they come with screw in cups that I wont use on my X-22 Backpacker stock, but may use for something else.

Nice. (Not that I would expect otherwise, but) it's good to see that a big company like Magpul didn't make some proprietary system for attaching slings.

It's a Leupold VX1 2-7x28, it has never had a problem with return to zero but I haven't been able to sight it in yet with the new barrel and stock.

GROVTEC Backpacker Sling

I got my Grovtec Backpacker sling yesterday. I'm making this post because its the sling I got for my X-22 Backpacker equipped 10/22 Takedown. Grovtec makes several different backpack style slings. I bought the Real Tree camo padded backpack sling. Its a very well made sling, and I am happy with it, and recommend it if anyone is interested. It comes with locking barrel swivels sewn in. They fit the Uncle Mikes hunting style studs. All the buckles, and loops are steel, not plastic. The shoulder pads have a black tacky rubber material that goes against your body to keep the sling in place. There are also thumb loops in case you need to hang your thumbs, or to rest your arms. It is made in the USA. I got it on Ebay, and it was $42 shipped.

I will probably use this sling for my different rifles, as I like how it carries a heavy rifle. I have a heavy Weatherby Vanguard that I varmint hunt with. The Grovtec sling will be perfect for that, as well as my Marlin 1894 44 Mag when deer season comes around. I like the idea of securly carrying a rifle without fear of it slipping off my shoulder, and having both hands free for climbing and balance.
